GAME & KNIFE
Any other old gamers around these parts?
Let's see what our fellow Spyderheads are playing!
(Include a Spyderco, somewhere. :p)
I took a break from remodeling and hooked my N64 up in the living room.
Time for a little Paper Mario on the big screen!

Re: GAME & KNIFE
I bought my kids a 'retro' Atari console last year for Christmas. It has about 100 games loaded onto a miniature version of the Atari console I had as a kid, so you can hook it to your TV and beat your kids at Pitfall (or whichever game you happened to have when you were their age). It's awesome. :)
Re: GAME & KNIFE
We have the Nintendo Classic and Sega Genesis similar to that. Nintendo came around when I was a young kid, when my wife surprised me with the Classic version for Christmas a couple years ago it made OUR day! My stepdaughter (6 at the time) thought it was stupid and "looked old" because of the graphics haha.TomAiello wrote: ↑Mon Jun 29, 2020 10:55 amI bought my kids a 'retro' Atari console last year for Christmas. Re: GAME & KNIFE
I'm playing a lot of World of Tanks as an online game, and all kinds of single player games, mostly horror/story driven/shooters, all on PC which I keep upgraded regularly. My first and last console was a Nintendo Famicom clone, "Terminator 2", back in late 1990s. So if 28 yo is an old gamer, count me in :D
Re: GAME & KNIFE
I used to play Doom, Quake and Duke Nukem on the PC/DOS. I have a lot of nostalgia in that era.
I've had a little extra time to play video games lately. I bought one of those Switch Lites that I'll break out to play Dragon Quest and stuff. It made it a lot easier to play stuff.
Truthfully, I've been blown away by the quality of some of the games they have these days.
Dragon Quest XI is a shining example. The story(albeit a generic JRPG story)is fantastic, the voice acting is actually voice acting.

No games can beat Mike Tyson's Punchout or Tecmo Bowl (NES) and Goldeneye 007 (Nintendo 64)
This isn't debatable, it's facts. :D

Re: GAME & KNIFE
Got this Sega a few years ago. I hope they come out with a N64 with preloaded games, someday. Make it with GoldenEye and Super Smash Bros. and I'll be thrilled :)
Re: GAME & KNIFE
I play a mobile game called CrushThemAll. Lots of characters, but one stands out and makes me think of Spyderco.
His sword used to have a better spydie hole before I upgraded it.

Re: GAME & KNIFE
Ditto. Games have come a long way. They're incredible.
My college roommate and I used to say that when we were old and retired we'd get to play all these amazing games. We were picturing immersive VR, or holograms, or something, played worldwide. But we're definitely living in the future. He and I are both right around the point of retiring now, so we're already starting to plan out gaming times with our old group of friends. Unfortunately, most of us are still too busy with the work part of our lives to do anything more than a couple hours maybe once a month, but we'll get there--maybe once the kids are in college. Retirement is going to be awesome. :)
Re: GAME & KNIFE
I gave up the hunt and went the emulator route. I've got everything made for NES/SNES/Genesis. I still have a Sega Saturn/CD and a PS2 but those are my only consoles, I'm mostly PC gaming these days.

Playing an mmo with the wife called black desert online. I also enjoy wow, grand theft auto, elite dangerous, and assetto corsa (I love racing Sims!)
Used to play I racing too, but just don't have the time to put into it these days.
Oh, and of course the elder scrolls and fallout franchises. I can sink so much time into them...

How about those of us into old games?
Or maybe this?

This may need to be moved to off topic, haha.
"The boxes under the tarps are not for sale", apparently means "sell the boxes under the tarps." to some unnamed relatives.
I emulate all the NES/SNES, Genesis/Saturn and Turbografx16 games on my UMPC.
The N64 is the only one that survived. The rest were mistakenly sold at a garage sale, long ago...

I run dungeons with my wife on Final Fantasy 14, sometimes. I used to play WoW a long time ago(2004?), but I generally play single player stuff these days.soc_monki wrote: Playing an mmo with the wife called black desert online. We hooked up our original Nintendo for my 6-year-old son when we were hiding out at our cabin. He played Mario Bros for about 20 minutes before he decided it was dumb, then my brother and husband played Mike Tyson Punchout for like 3 hours.

Haha, that's how it usualy goes.
Had a similar thing happen with Goldeneye recently. After a few minutes, the kids were like, "What is this garbage?"
After they were severely lectured by no less than four adults, on why it was the greatest FPS of all time and why they would be banished to the hellfire if they did not repent...
We complained about each other using the P90, for several hours.
