Well, we are only halfway through the final Damasteel patern vote, but with more than double the votes of the other two options combined, it looks like the Bjorkman's Twist is going to be the clear winner.

We have Ivory G10 scales, and the blade is to be leaf shaped, so I guess I would like to know several things.

1. Are we all happy with a full length back spring, like the HH UKPK?

2. Do we have anything else that we feel should be discussed and maybe polled here?

3. What do you make of all this Sal? Are you happy with what we have achieved here, and are you feeling this?

4. Any idea of numbers, costs, and lead times?

5. How will we get out hands on them in the UK? Is there a kind soul on the board that i could bribe to ship me a couple over?

1. I’d be extremely sad if this knife didn’t feature the metal backspacer that is found on the G10 HH UKPK (say that 10 times fast).

2. I think you’ve covered pretty all pretty well. I’d be interested to hear where the UK forums went with this idea of someone has a link though.

5. I’d be more than happy to purchase a couple extra and send them your way. Assuming I’m able to do so. I have a feeling this is going to be a very popular knife with the price point Sal is gunning for.

Nice work, thanks again.

The full length backspacer is fine with me. A thin grind behind the edge, like the K390 Urban (~0.015") would be great too.

Same here. I think most people have said that.

Same also. Does anyone have a linky link?

I would appreciate that. Sal said somethjng about seeing if he could sort something out closer to the time, but was not hugely specific.

Thanks again.

You're welcome.

I hope it comes to be a really good knife.

I feel I have invested a lot of time, thought, and energy into this, so I would be disappointed if it doesn't come to fruition, or doesn't live up to the hype.

Time will tell.

Would it be impossible to get some leaf shaped blades some drop point blades? Just thinking the only difference is a CNC program? Will still probably get a leaf but would die for a drop.

I’m a bit late to this party , but very interested.

Re. 1: Full backspring would be great (he wrote, patiently awaiting the arrival of his HH UKPK)

Re. 5: Will this edition not be generally available through the usual Spyderco distribution channels, and thus at regular dealers? If so, I’d like to also like up for some special shipping to the old continent...

Fingers crossed for this project!

I think the answer to this is ultimately going to be no, for 2 reasons.

Firstly, we ran a poll on this a few weeks ago, and the majority voting was for a leaf shape, and it wasnt really neck and neck. I think a lot of people felt that to really show off the damasteel pattern, the leaf shap was best.

Secondly, from the feel of this so far, anything that incurs redesign will need testing, both of which cost time and money. The damasteel in this knife is going to be hoovering up most of the budget, so more frugal choices have been made elsewhere. Sal has made it clear that bloating the budget kills the project.

I don't want anyone to be excluded here, and I am sorry that this is probably not the answer that will satisfy you.

I wonder how hard it would be to buy the product and just regrind it yourself? Could you just clamp a slow water hose to spray over a cheap grinding wheel to keep it from getting hot, marker the desired profile and just go low and slow toll you get there, then file and polish. Or is this nonsense? Its probably what I would look to do.

But if this is total nonsense then someone please correct me.

You can have custom blades made for any knife by good makers. So it should be within reason (not easy, but possible) to either modify a leaf blade to a drop point or just have someone make you a blade in your preferred shape.

This process has actually gotten me thinking about trying to find someone to make me a custom DC18N blade for a Manix. That way I can get DC18N for myself regardless of which Damasteel gets used for a UKPK.

YOu are welcome CHB. Thanks for the support.

Full backspring seems to be the general concensus.

Ok, so the results are finalised.

Bjorkman's twist is the pattern.
Leaf is the shape.
Ivory G10 is the handle.

Is there anything more that anyone feels that we need to discuss?

No worries, Sal.

Any idea of how long before you can give is a thumbs-up ot down, and an idea of lead times and price?
