Spyderco Dodo?

#1

Post by Systmrcvr »

First time posting and just wanted to express how much I’d like to see another run or two of the Dodo. With the BladeHQ M4 version selling out pretty quickly recently, I would think this has totally renewed the interest in this model. Something possible to see in the future? I truly hope to see more in this line.

I bet we'll see a BHQ jade/DLC Dodo sooner or later. They've run satin & DLC for every release so far.

They've done Satin and DLC on a bunch but there are still a few that haven't got a DLC version like the Lum Tanto, Lum Chinese, and of course the Dodo. I woud definitely welcome a DLC variant of the Dodo from BHQ. I'd really welcome any version of the Dodo that gets rereleased. :D

Hi Systmrcvr,

Welcome to our forum.

We're kinda forcing these exclusive customers to make higher numbers.

The Lums were kind of pricey (seki g10 strikes again) and didn't sell quickly, while the dodo sold out in minutes or hours at most. I think we'll see the dodo in dlc. Wouldn't hold out much hope for the lums though.

I would like to see them do a SE dodo run.

Welcome to SPYDERVILLE and hope you stay a while :) We are automatically friends right of the bat because I'm a big fan of the Dodo. I would love to see not only a new run of the Dodo I would like to see new handle materials and supersteel blades at some point too.

The Dodo is such a versatile blade for it's size. If I were to have to live where they had draconian pocketknife laws I would probably EDC a Dodo full time ( Until I could move out of the place  )

I also hope that at some point they will bring back the Dodo in full Spyderedge. I've been trying to find one to carry for a long time and I can't find one for less than $200. So that gives us some thing to wish for

Its a double edged sword. Forcing the retailer to take more risk might result in less sprints.

+1 for the spyderedge dodo! I would love to see more of these.

My spyderedge s30v dodo outperforms my m4 dodo any day.

This!

I want it to be a thing, so badly!

My only requirement is an SE option. I am not interested in any version of that blade in PE.

Maybe a dodo lightweight? I love FRN and am a fan of making a lightweight of about any model :)

Well "Browncoat" I wish they would listen to us concerning a Spyderedged Dodo>> That is truly a pitbull of a short bladed model to be sure. I can't understand for the life of me why Spyderco didn't make some of the Sprint Run Dodo models in SE  .

And we aren't the only people that have made that discovery either. Just try to find a full SE Dodo on the secondary market. The only one I've found in the past 3 years the guy wanted $200+ for a used one

That's why I'm going to continue to put pressure on Spyderco to do at least 35% of any Sprint Run Dodo in SE. They would probably sell faster than the PE units would. Maybe we need to start a petition  ??

Thanks for the welcome Sal and Kristi and I really appreciate the info. I know everyone wants something from you all these days but figured I’d ask and see what may be brewing. Very kind of you both.

And glad to see some support for this too. Fingers crossed for sure.

Another big fan of the Dodo here. 👍 The earlier version (blue model, below) has a smoother action and is very easy to disengage the Ball Lock one-handed compared to the Orange Sprint. Really looking forward to seeing more of these (hopefully!)
