Manix 2 Lightweight clip screw help!

#1

Post by aquaman67 »

I just got a Casey Lynch titanium clip for my Manix 2 lightweight.

The clip screw just spins.

One side is torx the other side is smooth.

I’m guessing it’s loctited.

If that’s the case - how can I safely heat the FRN without melting it?

Will boiling water melt FRN?

Thanks in advance.

I've learned here to loosen loctite on screws with a soldering iron directly on the head of the screw, careful to avoid over heating the g10/frn. Just hold the iron on the screw for like 5 seconds, then check the screw, then repeat if necessary. Seems like you'll need something to help hold the smooth side in place, though.

The fastener is flat on one side, and the hole has a flat spot to match. The fastener should not rotate in the hole. If I needed to repair such a problem, I'd cut a slot with a Dremel, and then use a flat blade screwdriver to remove it. If you do a pretty job, you could reuse the fastener.

Interesting.

Thank you.

Seems the scales are buggered up inside.

If I do manage to get it apart - it won’t tighten down either. Without the above mentioned slot technique.
