I didn't read too much about this knife in the forum. Really excited about this one. Very classic and clean look. Can't wait for this release.

I want to like this knife but I can't stand the gap between scale and ricasso when closed... Maybe actual pictures when it's released will sway me? I do love the micarta and wire clip tho...

This knife is everything I wish they would do to a Baby Horn.

Just throw the kitchen sink at it. Micarta, Ti liners, Vanax...

Why? Because!

It would probably cost $300, but I'd have one!

Hopefully this can scratch that itch, for the time being.

When I asked about Spyderco making a competitor to the Quiet Carry The Drift (which is a $300+ knife sold direct to consumer) Sal said that the drift was priced right for a DTC knife with those features, and a Vanax version of the Sage 2 would cost significantly more. Maybe LionSteel could somewhat hold cost down by avoiding import tariffs on unfinished steel (getting Vanax within the EU) and shipping a finished product to the US. I'm just not sure.

The Sage 2 has >400% more steel in the blade, than the Baby Horn. Same goes for the amount of Ti.

The material cost would be far cheaper, all around. Hopefully making up for the added costs of making it in Japan.

Honestly, I'd rather them make it in Golden. Moki's quality has seen a bit of a drop lately. The Baby Horn deserves to see some love, it's highly underrated.

I thought that as well at first. Then I got to thinking that this will be in my pocket and that the gap will be in the back side of the pocket and I'll never even notice it until it's sitting on my desk. So, not a deal breaker for me IMO. Just think about the TI liners and the fully crowned back when it's opened. Going to be an awesome feel with no finger choil.

That gap bugs me, too, but I liked everything else about the design enough to pre-order one from KC. I'm excited for it.

I know this is an Italian design by "Max" and a collaboration with lionSTEEL but, it got me thinking. Is it also manufactured in Italy? Wondering how Italy is doing in these crazy times and if it is manufactured there, could we see a longer wait than first anticipated?
Edit: I now see it is manufactured in Italy.

No, according to the catalog it’s regular production.

Watching the new bladehq spyderco video on YouTube really sold me on the SpyOpera. The rounded spine and lockbar are really nice

Yeah the "crowned spine" was a big selling point for me on that one. I have a couple Lionsteel knives with crowned spines that I'm a big fan of.

Great video. And I agree the rounded spine looks incredible. The scales are more polished than I had imagined, but they look excellent. I'm excited for this one.
