Please forgive me

#1

Post by tonijedi »

Dear Spyderco Community, please forgive me.
I'm finishing packing my stuff to go camping and I'm taking two Spydercos: a folder and a fixed blade.
Dear reader may think "so far so good, why is he asking for forgiveness?"
Here is the list of my premeditated sins:

- I won't be taking a FFG Spyderco;
- I won't be taking Spyderedges;
- I won't be taking a golden backlock;
- I won't be taking an ATS-34 from the "GOLDEN ERA";
- I won't be taking Maxamet, Rex or 4V;
- I won't be taking LC200N, S90V, M390;
- There will be no Para 2 or 3, or 1, or compression locks for that matter;

Sorry.

Can't be too offended. I'm on a beach vacation and what I brought meets all of those criteria except for one small SE blade:

PE Pacific Salt 1
AEB-L Urban
Hawkbill Ladybug
Bow River

When I go camping I don't take ANY of my Spydercos with me. I like having a multitool with needle nose plyers and a fixed blade in a slightly softer (hrc sub-60) carbon steel. Spyderco doesn't make either of those.

Not sure I'd take it camping, but the original Smock is one of my favorite spydies, and it doesn't have any of the features you listed, either. The wolfspyder, as well, and I would definitely take that one camping.

The folder is the Dragonfly Salt PE and the fixed is the Aqua Salt PE.

Am I right? :)

Why would any of that require forgiveness? Heck, most days a carry 3 Japanese Spydercos. Two are VG-10, one might be AUS-6, AUS-8, or ATS-34, I've never been able to pin that down. They're all folders, all midlocks, only 1 is FFG, and at least one, most often two, have been customized.

Correct on the fixed blade.
The Dragonfly PE Salt stayed home.
It's a different steel from H1 and it's not a Dragonfly.

Doesn’t the company make a fixed blade in O-1? I’m blanking on the name just now though.

The only time I don't have at least two Spyders with me is when I have business in one of the Government buildings which strictly prohibit carrying any knives. But I make it a very brief visit and I dread going.

I couldn't even imagine any outdoor type activity where I wouldn't have at least 2 to 3 Spyderco folders and at least one fixed blade with me. Oh sure I
also take a couple of my Cold Steel Gurhka and/or machetes along with me too. I also make sure I have at least one Spyderco specialty type blade with me like a Hawkbill for instance.

As far as steel types, certain models or fixed vs folders>> as long as it has the Spydie logo on it>> then it's coming with me on all outdoor activities.
