Golden made CF/S90V SLIPIT’s

#1

Post by Dazen »

I would love a CF/S90V UKPK and an Urban made in Golden. It seems to be an incredible combo coming out of the Golden factory and I don’t see how the UKPK hasn’t followed suit. I would also like to see the Urban manufacturing moved to the US along side the UKPK, and get the same treatment. Who’s with me!?

That sounds great, I’d love one with Peel ply, though I’m sure that’s what it’d be.

I'd definitely buy a UKPK in CF/s90v.

I'd still rather have one in Maxamet, though. :)

I don't actually think we need the Urban and UKPK to overlap in Golden. I like having them in different factories to take advantage of different steel availability for sprints.

Was thinking the same thing the other day.

Not for sprint runs though, but for quality of assembly.

Golden makes precision products, Italy and Japan not so much.

Urban became my go-to knife, but I know that FRN pivot hole will wear out sooner or later under constant pressure of the backspring (which is surprisingly strong, making more FRN wear).

If Golden would make Urban in G10/stainless linered or titanium version in any steel, this would be an instant multiple buy for me (as this would be my lifetime companion).
For now :D

I agree that a cf s90v UKPK would be amazing! My UKPK is probably my favorite Spyderco knife for EDC.

I can understand that there might not be a ton of excitement for this configuration, but, I find it kind of strange there are dozens of new UKPK fans joining just to push the Ti version and that’s all 🤔

This would be a really cool combo! Makes sense to add it to the Golden CF/S90V lineup.

Ukpk in s90/cf would be a definite buy for me. Fluted would be perfect but peel ply works. Please no laminate, although I don't think they do laminate in Golden.

Preferably the Drop Point variation.

That’s great to hear Sal, thank you for the consideration! Will y’all be discussing just the UKPK or the Golden Urban as well?

Golden Urban is not likely. We try to be loyal to our makers.

I’d definitely be interested in a Golden made Slipit in S90V.

I like my S110V UKPK, which I got to try out the steel. I can get a nice edge on it, but it never really excited me in the way my favourite steels do.

Recently I got a S90V knife for the first time ( a Southfork).

I was intrigued that Sal had specifically mentioned the steel as one of his favourites.

I was quite surprised how the S90V edge seems to feel different when sharpened - very sticky, and with that ‘scary sharp’, aggressive bite to it, like some tool steels.

It seems to hold that high end sharpness quite well too, rather than rapidly dropping to a ‘working edge’ keenness.

These are just my impressions based on one knife, but I’d certainly be keen to try out more S90V, whereas S110V and S30V don’t especially appeal to me.

S90V in a thin blade on a Slipit would be very cool.

I’m not really fussed about handle material - G10, FRN and CF are all good.

I'll be following your travels with S90V. I haven't used it and may be curious to try some. The Chief is a model I love that will be coming out in S90V. A Golden slipit could be cool too.

Or perhaps there is some of that cool cladded cpm154/s90v steel left for a run of UK Penknives with that steel and a peelply cf handle?

An s90v/cf UKPK (preferably with a leaf blade and non-laminate cf) would instantly go to the top of my purchase list if such a knife were to be released.
