The "Chicagojimbo" (Yojimboston?)

#1

Post by Mushroom »

So, we now have the Yojimbo and the Yojumbo, a large version and a medium version. We're just missing a small version.
(or are we?) ;)

I present to you, the "Chicagojimbo" or as I personally like to call it, the "Yojimboston." (Or maybe a shorter name would be more appropriate - 'Gojimbo or Bojimbo?) :D

This is a regular Yojimbo 2 modified by Michael Janich himself to have a 2.5" blade making it legal to carry in places like Chicago and Boston, where there are blade length restrictions of 2.5" or less. He originally made it for himself then offered it to some of his Martial Blade Concepts students and finally began doing limited batches for the public! More info can be found on 5x5 Combat Solutions website, where these modified knives are exclusively available.

I just got it but I already know I like it a lot. It allows me to, legally, carry the Yojimbo in Boston now and still provides the full size Yojimbo grip. Also, the mod itself just looks fantastic. The fit and finish is impeccable, as if it came off Spyderco's official production line like this. :spyder:

Enough talking... pictures!

That looks great. An awesome mod since it retains the original size and shape of the handle.

Thanks!! Something about this knife has me more excited than normal. Might be the fact that it's custom modified that appeal to me so much. I'm not sure but I really am just fascinated by this particular model.

I think so too! I've seen a number of people express interest in a small bladed knife with a full size handle. Maybe this could be a viable option for those people?

The small blade in an average handle reminds me of the Dodo. Very cool option for those with 2.5" restrictions.

Wow that's super cool! Thanks for sharing. If I lived in a restricted state/city I'd definitely grab one of these. I even kinda want one regardless, but I already having 2 Yojimbos it's tough to justify another.

I like it. It's beautiful. But if you decide to defend yourself in Chicago, based on my experience, you are much better off having FOID and CCW cards, and shoot the guy/gal. IF you use a knife to defend yourself, even against 4 to 5 guys, do not stick around for the cops. They will charge you with an Ag Assault.

Love how this knife turned out, but, I’m just glad I don’t have those restrictions!
