I Like My HAP40 Delica - Seems to take a beating

Post by dreadpirate »

It's one thing to read the specs on the steel, but it's another when you use it. I was using my HAP40 Delica to cut fasteners for vinyl siding that was badly faded (lots of them). I also had to cut some of the new fasteners short so they would fit in the masonry. It still has a pretty good edge. That despite slipping and hitting the bricks. Definitely would have killed the edge on my VG10 Delica. Although I kind of thought of it as a collector, the HAP40 Delica a great work knife.

I carry a Hap40 Caly 3 most days. It has become my sole user spyderco, though I have a ton of them waiting in the wings

Laminated HAP 40 is my most favorite steel of all I have experienced so far. Have the Endura and Stretch 1 in this steel..
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

HAP40’s a great user steel. I’ve been using the HAP40 Dragonfly at work for a couple of weeks. It’s what I swap out to when I need more toughness than ZDP189.

Ditto... I'm recently new to HAP 40 and a long time user of Delica. HAP40 Delica easily rocks the VG10 Delica.

$20 off coupon brings it to $106 for a cf and linered hap40 delica - cheaper than an frn one on the secondary
