I personally love the wire clip and I'd say yes it's been a hot spot before but so has the spoon clip. Spoon clip scratches my stuff and shows scratches easier which I dislike. Placement is more important than type, which is why I sold all my pm3s
Interesting. You sold your knives because of clip placement when there are four placement options available?
I guess not the only reason, blade stock is too thick, edge curves up too quickly with not enough flat and the clip placement says that knife was made with the lanyard as priority. That's not a trend I wanna support. A 4 inch knife should not stick out of your pocket an inch it's just silly. And I don't like tip down

I only have one :spyder: with wire clip, Chaparral LW, and Ii like it ok. But, it just don't have the retention of a spoon clip. I think on anything bigger then Chaparral I want spoon clip. Once upon a time I want to buy Caly 3.5 LW(when it comes), but that wire is just a no for me.

Spoon clip, as done on Manix, stick out maybe a 1.5 cm and it is pretty discrete.

Not really dislike, I think they have their place on some knives and make perfect sense, but I do question the decision to put them on some models. Wire clips for small/light models, hourglass for everything else.

I generally like them. Some of the longer ones, like on the Siren, do seem to lack lateral strength. On the Lil Native, the clip is short and stiff laterally.

most people here seem to love them. i have mixed experiences. the clip on my df2 salt is wobbly and doesn’t feel secure, but the one on my lw manix is really great. i’m not sure if it’s because they are different materials or because of the fold over design on the df2 versus the flat design on the m2lw.

I don't mind the hourglass clip but I much prefer the wire clips. Never had any real issues and I can adjust the tension on the pretty easily

Wobbly clip on the DF means the screws need to be snugged up and secured with blue loctite. The wire clip on the Dragonfly is the only wire clip that loosened up on me. I corrected as mentioned and it hasn't been a problem since

I don't have a very strong preference for the clips. I'm good with wire and spoon.

But, what are you doing with a Lil Native that develops hot spots? I can't imagine using that knife for something that I'd be doing long enough to get hot spots. Maybe carry a small fixed blade for those tasks?

Nothing wrong with carrying multiple knives...it's perfectly normal to carry two...er, three...maybe five?

Pancake, I must say: The NON-deep carry wire clip on the Manix 2 LW works perfectly well on this rather light knife! No retention problems whatsoever.

Actually, I personally think good retention is even more important when it comes to small, short folders, since they are more likely to turn or work their way out of the pocket with not enough clip retention (though: If folders get really long , that can be a problem too again, since then the movement if the thigh can begin to push them out of the pocket).

So: I think if you´re ok with the wire clip on the Chap, you probably would be so on a Manix 2-closed length knife (of rather light weight) either... ?

I think the wire clip is great, but the deep-carry version on my Para 3 LW does have to be snugged up every little while. I even applied loctite last time (I think), but the clip is rolling back and forth again. I keep wondering why they don't put a washer in there - if we weren't in a pandemic it'd be worth a trip to the hardware store.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

I also love the wire clip. I much prefer it to the spoon. In fact if I could find aftermarket wire clips to replace the spoons I’d replace every one of them. I really wonder why they put a spoon clip on the Delica in particular.

Again I think it just depends on the model they install a wire clip on. Because to be honest I can't think of another clip I would rather have on my Dodo models. I wouldn't even mind having a wire clip on either one of my C-52 Caly Jr models. But anything bigger than those I would prefer other types of pocketclips.

Depending on the size, weight and intended purpose of the model, wire clips are sometimes the best choice for me.

Hmm...don't know about yours but the clips on all my DF's feel stiffer than the (many) longer ones I have. They short clips use the same gauge wire as the long ones. So it makes sense that they'd feel stiffer. They're difficult to move sideways on mine. Sounds like something's up with yours. Also, you can remove the clip and adjust the tension fairly easily. Something you might want to consider doing.

do you have the salt? is the clip on the salt titanium? it looks like a different material than what the m2lw has. maybe it’s just not as sturdy a material.

Aesthetically, the spoon clip is better.
Functionally, I like the wire clip better.

Just tested the clip on my Dfly Salt with a rare earth magnet. The clip itself is magnetic, but the clip screws are not.
