Special Ladybug Idea

#1

Post by Woodpuppy »

@Ladybug93 & @Mushroom have apparently both had the same idea, and I loved it so I’m popping up a poll. I can only list 10 poll items, so after Y/N that leaves 8 steels I can list. You can choose more than 1 steel; Add more in the comments, including SE/PE!

For my part, if going with H1 I’d like it SE.

of course i'm down. i voted for h1 (because that's already a thing for the ladybug), lc200n (because i love it, but not sure it would be cost-effective enough to actually buy), and spy27 (because the ladybug was my first spyderco and it seems fitting to have a proprietary steel in this model). my first choice would probably be h1 in se, but i'd take it in any steel.

Love this idea! I also voted vg10 to keep it affordable, but I'd reeeealy prefer a SE version. There aren't enough SE ladybug colors right now!

I'm down and while the VG10 is always good, I'd really like to see this in a Hawkbill LC200N version. Though a Hawkbill in any steel would do.

I love this idea!!!

I wouldn't be interested in paying 25% extra for LC200N, but I would definitely buy one in most other steel options. I'd prefer VG-10 as it is plenty corrosion resistant for my needs. Had one in VG-10 on my keys well over a decade with no corrosion problems, so I'd prefer not to pay extra for less edge holding.

I'm not a Ladybug fan ... but if I was I can see the appeal of this. DLT is likely listening.

I did pick up the Delica and actually like it more in person than in the photo as the red isn't as vibrant. The Delica is done in 20CV and I think that would be a great steel for the ladybug as well. Why would you want to do something other???

I cringe every time I hear hawkbill and ladybug together. The only knife I’ve ever had open up in the pocket and I have a nice scar to show for it.

The gap between the handle and edge with the blade in the closed position is a poor compromise for a knife designed to be carried in the pocket.

I know there are a lot of hawkbill fans, but shoehorning a blade shape into a handle not designed for it is not always a good thing.

It's a great excuse to bring back a sheepsfoot Ladybug. Perfect compromise.

That would be cool. Or a wharnie (The difference is small, esp at this scale).
