If I forget my usual carry, I have a spare blade in my truck. I also have a spare blade or 2 in my backpack which goes most places with me. I once forgot to stick my knife in my pocket before making a 3 hour drive to visit friends for a weekend. Thankfully walmart has some decent options nowadays and it was close by. It's very rare that I forget a knife, if i do, I have multiple backup options. Its even more rare that I go somewhere where knives are prohibited (they are technically prohibited at my place of work, however my department is exempt).

I feel naked without a knife. It feels odd not to have one. I do not need to carry a large knife. A Roadie, Dragonfly, or Delica will do. It is not for defense, but a knife can get you out of a jam if you need to cut a seat belt, or cut off a boot, or something to save your, or someone else's life. Also, there are apples and packages to cut. Some places I cannot carry a knife and I avoid these if possible.

Exercise I’m blade less. Outside of exercise I always have at least a manbug. My manbug ZDP-189 sees more pocket time than any other knife.

The original knife, a stone flake...

And a bit of caveman history, very early-on when man first started using stone tools and cut himself frequently, for thousands of years rocks were simply known as "ow." ;-)
