Has ANYone ever made a driver’s cap with a logo on it? Possibly in the back. That’s the type of hat I wear when I’m out and about, except for the floppy sun hat I wear on my walks (I’ll probably get “Bloked” for that). :)

Jim
Definitely - preferably in tweed! Much more dapper than most headwear.

Also known as Newsboy caps, I think.

Kangol flat caps were popular street wear with their metal badge on the back in the early 90’s (?) and famously sported by Samuel L Jackson, but were popular men’s attire for most of the 20th century, at least, and pretty much everywhere.

Hi Dazen,

Masks are becoming a bit of an issue as to their function. I've recently hear that the visors that re being used are not effective. The plexiglass pieces used for separation are also not effective. Two layer masks are not effective. Three layers minimum. Most masks with three or more layers are effective for not spreading, but only N95 maks re effective for keeping it out.

I'm watching many wearing two layer masks or bandanas that supposedly don't work to stop spreading.

It's getting to where finding a definitive truth is getting harder and harder. Who can you trust to actually know?

sal

Sal, thank you for your reply. I agree with you 100%, but it’s just that down here in Texas, and probably many other places, masks are mandatory everywhere. It doesn’t mater what kind of mask, I could wear an eye patch over my mouth, just as long as you have you mouth covered. I don’t know when all this will all stop, and since there is no end in sight why not wear a mask I like.

Dane
Hi Dane, no argument there. I wear one when in any public area, an N95 as I'm high risk. But I still question the accepted "Truth" as Covid is spiking again and most of the world population tried to follow the "experts" guidelines. Obviously Covid-19 has some "tricks" up it's sleeve that we don't know about.

Now we learn, may be true or not?; that it takes 4 or 5 days for the virus is reach the tipping point to where the tests can detect them. Huh? How does that effect the situation?

And to tell you the truth, I'm beginning to question the tests. I'll still wear my mask, social distance and avoid crowds, especially riots ;) , because I try to be a good citizen and at my age, it's foolish to take chances.

SSSssoooo. back to hats, bandanas and any other stuff you might want that enough people might want to justify making them?

We have 3 hats in-the-works. My designs. Eric says he wants to design his own. Kids  We also have some talented crew that is also sketching.

We have two bandanas in-the-works and I know Jacob (our graphic artist) has a bunch of ideas. they are oversize (27") and we insisted on USA made cotton, sewing and printing.

So as you can see, ideas and requests planted here do, in fact, grow.

Drivers cap.

Interest? color and material? Where to put what logo? For discussion.

Thanks! I find them more comfortable to wear than most baseball caps. The ones I wear tend to be plain black.

Color-wise, I generally prefer plain black. Although others may prefer otherwise.

Material-wise, I’m not really sure. Admittedly, the ones I wear are not very expensive. Mine says the shell is 100% cotton, and the lining is 80% polyester and 20% cotton. Anyone else have suggestions?

Logo-wise, I can picture just a plain spider (Spyder?) on the back of it. The front might be awkward for a logo because of the way it slopes downward, but might actually be doable, too.

well some sort of herringbone feels fitting for that style hat. i can say that is probably one of the more niche styles of cap although i have seen them more and more and even kids wearing them.....

We could put a red bug on the top, most wouldn't noticed it 'til you tilt your head?

I say regular ball caps, but flexfit. A couple different sizes. I'd think they would sell much better to the general population than some of these niche styles. Never heard any complaints over flexfits!!

How about a moving 3D image of a red bug on the back, so when you move your head, or people change angles when looking at it, it looks like it’s moving? Not like a bug crawling up on your head, just the Spyderco spider with its legs moving in place, like those bookmarks with moving 3D images. Too gaudy? :p :D

I would loooove a drivers cap!

The classic look would be a solid colour with a Spyderco metal badge on the back, and maybe the bugs printed/woven into the lining fabric. Like Jim, I tend to wear my black ones the most. Maybe the badge could also be a clip for a goggle strap.

Or solid colour with contrasting bug outlines, overlayed to give a random checker effect until you look closely.

Or perhaps small bugs interlaced to give a hounds-tooth tweed effect?

The colours and pattern of the Spyderco box would be pretty nice, as well.

I’m in for a drivers hat. I think those are probably more popular in Europe than the USA? I’ve never actually owned one but i would definitely buy one if spyderco made one. I would probably vote for a solid color with the metal badge on the back like chrisinhove described. For a baseball cap I like the spydie logo to be loud and proud but I feel like I would want something more formal and subtle on a drivers cap. I also like the idea of the bugs on the inner liner.

I’ll be your first. I like the idea of the flex fit hats but they Don’t work for me. I’m kind of in between sizes. The mediums are too small but the large is a little too big. Fits ok when brand new but stretches out to unusable within a few months. I would use them all the time if they fit me but as it stands i avoid them in favor of snapbacks.

I like ball caps, but prefer my "adventure" hats. The all around brim keeps off sun and rain.

I think a colaboration with Tilley would be awesome for hats, as they already have the gear and skills to make them.

Make it look like mario's red hat with a bug instead of m.

The relief near the rear adjuster of a baseball cap should be triangle shape instead of dome shape.

Yes a nice tweed drivers cap (flat cap) for me. Logo on the back would work. I'd like a metal logo but that is probably putting the cost up a bit.
