The culprit knife! My first G10 Manix that led to the Manix being my favorite knife. So glad I gave it a shot after being unhappy with the LW version I had first.

Based on my conversation with a dealer, I am pretty sure that St Nick's has the Red/DLC exclusive combo locked down, and DLT has the Red/Satin locked down. So DLT can't do Red/DLC, and St Nicks can't do Red/Satin. BHQ however has rights to both Jade/DLC and Jade/Satin.

i’m sure that’s true. i don’t really care about the scale color, although i honestly hate the red g10/satin combo because it looks like a cheap hardware store tool to me. i’m probably going to replace the scales on my next manix anyway. i just want a dlc manix in a stainless steel that makes me better than everyone else.

Hah, very true. m390 is however useful if you need high hardness and high corrosion resistance, and it is no more brittle than S30V. I'd like to see how m390 compares to H1 corrosion resistance.

Larrin rated M390/20CV/204P a 9.6 out of 10 for corrosion resistance. H1 would obviously be a 10. I believe the M390 family is a bit more corrosion resistant than S110V as well.

I got one...and this is one of the best deals Spyderco has. $10 more than the Red Para 3 LW, and feels like it should be twice as much. I have basically the same knife in Brown with M390, but couldn’t pass on the garnet scales, so the Brown is getting replaced and going up for sale, despite it being an absolutely great knife.

I have the brown/DLC/m390 one as well... couldn’t pass it up though.
