Hah, very true. m390 is however useful if you need high hardness and high corrosion resistance, and it is no more brittle than S30V. I'd like to see how m390 compares to H1 corrosion resistance.

Larrin rated M390/20CV/204P a 9.6 out of 10 for corrosion resistance. H1 would obviously be a 10. I believe the M390 family is a bit more corrosion resistant than S110V as well.

S110V is incredibly corrosion resistant, and should be even more so than the M390 analogues. Before I got my Pacific Salt, I took my S110V Manix LW swimming in the Atlantic on several occasions with no blade corrosion whatsoever. I didn’t try it with M390 PM2, but wish I had at least dipped the blade in seawater as an experiment. The PM2 did get wet with tap water and got rust on the stop pin, so I’m glad I didn’t take it swimming in saltwater.

I got one...and this is one of the best deals Spyderco has. $10 more than the Red Para 3 LW, and feels like it should be twice as much. I have basically the same knife in Brown with M390, but couldn’t pass on the garnet scales...

I have the brown/DLC/m390 one as well... couldn’t pass it up though.

I’m in the same boat with the satin M390. My short-lived resistance was futile...

Mine came in today...perfect knife, centered, extremely sharp and love the garnet color #gogamecocks. My brown M390 is an awesome knife functionality, just never loved the army brown color...much prefer a Marine green in a subdued color, or garnet if it’s going to stand out, and this one is perfect for that.
