Where are you guys getting these scales at??

Like Cambertree said already, my Endura scales are from cuscadi.de ("custom-scale-division").

They are based in Germany, but their homepage says they´d do shipping world wide for 10 to 15 Euros (roughly 11 to 16.5 USD), (outside Europe in 7 to 10 days).

I have the Endura Micarta scales and had a Zirikote-wood-scale Millie from them. Very good quality, but judging just from pics, I´d probably also slightly prefer the Suingab scales (smoother edges, like Cambertree says).

Another difference between Cuscadi and Suingab:
Suingab offers only" scales, but won´t install them (so you can´t send him your knife for that), nor does he offer complete custom scaled knives.
Cuscadi on the other hand does offer complete knives with custom scales and would install scales for you, if you sent the knife to them
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

I don't know if this was directed at me or not, but mine came in foliage green G10, my first Spyderco. For a long time, I resisted collecting other knives, thinking I had found the perfect one for me. I still think this would be the one I'd keep if I decided to sell off my collection.

Waco,
If I'm completely honest I too could survive just fine with same knife.

Yes, if I could only have one folder of any brand, it would most likely be an Endura.

I do wish they had a g10 model available. I usually prefer frn, but seeing as the Endura is my favorite, I’d be hard pressed to not buy one and swap my favorite steels in to it. I kinda hoped st nicks would do a red g10 model like the Delica they did. Any steel would be fine

Also, thanks for the reply

Yeah, I like the G10 models. I'd love a series of Endura/Delica/Dragonfly with G10/Cruwear and one with Micarta/Cruwear.

I did find it interesting that every pic that I saw posted here has either the Discontinued g10 scales, or aftermarket ones. Hopefully some knife shops are taking note and commission one in the future

They rarely do them for the same reason Spyderco discontinued them. The price of Seki g10 knives is high and the market is very small because of that. St Nick's did a red G10 Delica with Hap40 recently and I think that was $190. Incredibly expensive and a slow seller compared to other exclusives. I wouldn't expect many more g10 exclusives for the Delica or Endura.

I personally really love FRN and would take it over G10 in every aspect, and purely functionally speaking even over my Micarta Endura. Micarta has just something special about it, both in looks and feel in hand, and in that it somehow "ages" and gets more "personal"

But to do FRN right: Here is my favorite FRN - , and in fact generally favorite Endura ;)

Not sure that will work out: Pac Salt has no liners.

You're right but I can do a swaparoo with liners from an old endura if need be. Frankendurasalt.

I would be really surprised if the pivot hole to lock cutout geometry is the same.

I believe you're right. I tried swapping a Salt 2 blade into Delica scales yesterday and although it was close enough to assemble, it didn't work out. Likely the same with the Pac salt.

I know there's no "best" when it comes to pocket knives. It's all far too subjective. I'm wondering which Endura would be YOUR choice for a basic, high-capability EDC.

I'm considering the all-black Combo Edge VG10, the ZDP-189 PE FFG, and the SE VG10 Wharncliffe. You can select one of these, or suggest a different variant all together. Bonus points if you include an explanation as to why you chose what you did. Looking forward to the feedback!
ZDP-189, easily.

ZDP-189 is just stainless enough, and it is on the extreme end of extreme hardness, but it sharpens well on the fine ceramic. It has been a long time since I used a vanadium steel but I remember s90v being fickle on the fine ceramic. I love that abrasive, so I like to choose a steel that responds well to it. Could just be my own mediocre sharpening skills, but it could have been the massive s90v vanadium content. I felt like I could always push ZDP-189 further.
