+1 on the Baliyo. It takes real dexterity and I’m rubbish at it still.

I think I want one... which one do you have resp. recommend?
As far as I can see there is the (very cheap) lightweight, the heavy duty and the "wing"... guess the winged one would be the easiest to manipulate (I already have basic balisong skills)
I have the USA made one, bought because reviews said it’s stronger/more durable, which is important if you’re going to keep dropping it!

Thanks! So the "heavy duty" is not only more pricey cause it is heavier and stronger, but also US made, but not so the lightweight, version, right?

Bradley beat me too it and said exactly what I was thinking
Just looked it up, the smock looks dope! On a side note, my PM2 hd a pivot screw strip, anyone know if spyderco's warranty covers this? Between this and my dragonfly, I've had the worse luck with screws, gonna pick up some Wi-Ha bits and see if they help.
Give Spyderco a call, they will take care of you. Wiha drivers are a good choice in my experience.

An OTF auto would be a lot simpler than a balisong, it takes less practice, and you are a lot less likely to injure yourself. It is also still plenty fidgety.

Those didn't even cross my mind, but if I were to be a fidgeter...that would be the way I'd go! I messed around with a friend of mines OTF one day for a while. It was a bit addicting.

OTFs are a bit noisy though if you're trying to be discreet. My scarab is anything but discreet when you open it. I liken it to the sound of an 870 being pumped. My coworkers don't care because we're in the back warehouse and I sharpen their knives. If i was in a conventional office setting it probably wouldn't go over as well. I let someone pop it in the front office and everyone was like wtf was that. My yo2 is pretty quiet and slick. Fun to open and close and just index.
Also almost any spyderco I carry I spin between my thumb and middle finger with the spyder hole. When it comes around to my hand I just push my middle finger out and it completes the rotation. Works better with a fully exposed hole. Been doing this since for over 10 years now.

It might be surprising but I've often found myself fidgeting with the Squarehead. It can almost function as a "worry coin" for me, in the sense that it's small and easy to handle. Even the slow roll open is enough to keep my hands busy.
Really? I'll have to look into it, a good small fidget knife would be good, it might eliminate the fear factor.
Yep and on top of being a good fidget knife, it's a really convenient little cutter too. It's one of my favorite Spydercos to date for a number of reasons! It's definitely a discreet little knife to fidget around with and anyone who notices it seems to be more intrigued by it than intimidated.

i’ve been thinking about this more... it would be really cool if spyderco came out with something the size of the squarehead with the same flat, square frn handle on both sides, a compression lock, and some kind of edc tool like a mini pry bar or something that isn’t a knife and is still useful. it would make a great little “worry coin” plus have the fidget factor of a comp lock and some kind of bonus function that keeps it legal and safe everywhere and for anyone. i’d buy this product in a heartbeat and probably (maybe) stop fidgeting with my knives.

I dunno, this is a sad thread in my opinion...which I know doesn't mean much. But come on, do people really have that much free time in their lives to sit around flicking a knife around, or buying a knife mainly for that purpose?? Seems like a waste of $100+
Some people have enough time on their hands to go online and be critical of how people spend their own free time or even criticize how they're using the items they've purchased with their own money.... just sayin'

I do understand that a knife isnt built for the purpose of being fidgeted with, however I'll decide how the items I purchase will be used. The fidget factor of a knife weighs heavily on my purchasing decision.

I flick my knife during my idle time because I want to, I like doing it, and if the knife wasn't there, something else would be getting fidgeted with.

Beyond that, there's actually real benefits to fidgeting with your knife. You're using muscles in repetition that dont otherwise get used a whole lot.

1. You develop additional hand strength.
2. You develop better finger dexterity, coordination, and reaction time.
3. You develop muscle memory which makes using your knife more SAFE.

So for safety purposes, go get some reps in with your knife!!!
Lol,,,,,,,,,now drop the " just sayin" and the " that being said " crap in every other post

Spydergirl, I don´t get what you mean.. :o (and I don´t mean your opinion on the "fidget makes sense or not discussion", but indepenedent of that topic I don´t understand the context your comment (might be the limitations of my English)
Im sure your English is just fine, Sorry about that post. Heck I dont know what I mean sometimes. I read it as a joke about strengthening your hand. I will blame it on one to many IPA's and being stuck at home for weeks.

The "just saying" and "that being said" is a pet peeve of mine I seem to read in almost every post online.

Sorry to disrupt the thread

I have ADHD too and my favorite knife is a Manix LW. I personally like the CBBL lock better than the couple Compression Locks I have, it takes less movement and hand adjustment to open and close the knife, and I can play with it for way longer without feeling any hand pain. I always end up with a sore finger after playing with my Comp Locks too much.

That´s really cool!!! :)

Spyderco must have taken notice of this guy through the forum, right? I´ll have to check sometime later on his channel how he likes the Shaman. Seems to fit his hand(size) perfectly, and since he already likes the comp. lock it should be a great choice for him!
