Virtual Meet

#1

Post by Skidoosh »

This is usually the time of year to drool over Wouter's pictures from the Amsterdam meet and get teased about upcoming knives. But life isn't normal. I have no concept of what it takes but I'm wondering what a virtual meet would look like? I'd be willing to buy a ticket to an on-line meet (funds got to charity after expenses are met) to hear Eric and Sal talk about a few new models. Thoughts?

I'd definitely buy a ticket for that, especially if it helped support a relevant cause.

I'm surprised they're not at least doing their own in house video of all the new stuff.

The only knives Wouter would have been able to show us, are the knives appearing in the next Reveal catalog. Since screenshots and info leaks would be inevitable with a virtual meet, I imagine Spyderco would only be able to show us those models anyway.

A live stream preview could be cool and there is no way I'd miss it but I also have no aversion to just waiting for the official Reveal 5 catalog.

My thought exactly (sadly).

But I'd definitely join a virtual meet regardless of the amount of knives shown :)

Kind of feel like I said this exact thing in the thread about the meet being canceled a while back. But yeah, good idea.

The idea of a live chat is very appealing. I don't want Spyderco's staff to go crazy trying to organize it.

Anyone here have a day job that involves setting up and moderating giant conference calls? (The limited experience I had as a sound engineer taught me that you need a moderator with an iron hand and a strict pre-planned set of questions, but that's not how all the new loveseat platforms are set up.)

I guess a YouTube Livestream with super-chat (paid priority comment) proceeds going to a good cause could be cool.

Just a youtube video with Eric showing the models from Reveal 5 would work for me.

Oh yeah, like a YouTube stream, why not. But as others have said, I am fine with just waiting for Reveal 6.

Don't know like tou, byť I would love to have a stream with Eric or someone else from team and just chat general about knives, they don't have to show new models, just chatting would be golden.
