I love that they took the time to put in "serrations".

I believe James Keating made the wood one?

I know James was doing the training on the Civilian, but he didn't make it.

Thanx Stuart.
History can be long and hard to find.
Hey Louis,
You're new to the forum, but obviously not new to Spyderco.

Louis, I never knew Robert, just followed Maajak/James Keating and Comtech for a long time.
Looks like Burmese Teak, but I am guessing a much tougher wood?

Re: WOOD CIVILIAN
Yeah, I'm thinken it's Koa wood, my friend has a humidor made out of it and it looks just like it. He told me that's the hardest wood in the world, but it's expensive, and hard to get unless you deal in wood like Langford does.
Thanks Stewart.

Re: WOOD CIVILIAN
Up in the top 20 of the hardest woods, IMHO...
There are harder, but that is just academic right now... :)
Nice trainer none the less, Louis!

Re: WOOD CIVILIAN
I guess I'll move over here. Looks like Koa to me.
I have a couple of very old Filipino Arnis in Kamagong, that wood is insanely hard. I used them as whoop-*** sticks, in my vehicles back in the day(didn't know the type of wood until recently). I'll have to see if I can dig them out. Haven't seen them in years, but they are somewhere. Haha.
I love seeing different types of wood in use. Kamagong, even though it is ridiculously hard to acquire in the states, is probably my favorite type. Koa isn't far behind.

This is really cool, Louis! Seems like you got an impressive collection! I'd love to see more of your "out of the ordinary" Spyderco products!

Re: WOOD CIVILIAN
Man, new upcoming models are fun, but seeing an old model that I never heard of before us far more interesting. It's funny how much history Spyderco has.
