Native III 3D ; opines

Post by AllenETreat »

Just checked THIS one out one One Stop's

site ( www.1sks.com ) about $45. A vast improvement over the old model ( I got nothing against it, except the 3-D looks

more "21st century" ) and I likee the 75%

serrated model.

What say the augurers?

I still like the old one.... played with them side by side quite a bit, and the older one just feels better in my hands. Perhaps the 3D will grow on me, but right now I don't see it.

The Native III was the first Spyderco I ever bought. The profile knocked me out. I really like the new wire clip. I don't use the clip, but I like what it adds to the handle width and feel. The choil helps to accommodate my large hand for a very comfortable and secure grip. The fit and finish of this knife is very, very good. I'll try my best to get a Forum Native. By the way, my next Spydie should be arriving shortly--a Jess Horn lightweight. I've never held one, but I've held other Jess Horns and love them all.

I was "forced" to buy a Native III about a month ago when I lost my #1 edc, my prized BFC Blue Native. The Native III has proved to be a worthy replacement. It was tight at first, but a little SemiChrome (metal polish) and a lot of Tuff-Glide has solved that. No doubt this is now my favorite edc.

I love mine. I'd really like to see the 3D handle on other models. Mine's SE,and I prefer the combo too,so my old 440v still stays in rotation.

I like the old one better because I like thinner scales.

Did the Native III measure up? Well, both the new and old designs are totally different knives... The original native has a sleeker profile and a more distinct swedged tip, you dont actually see this in the native III. Though I have plenty of praises for the ergos and design functionality for the native III, if found it to be a more robust ! The original native retains its smoothness and excellent cutting edge.. If you are conservative, the native is for you. Extreme and radical? Check out the native III! Well, I did have the misfortune of disposing my G-10 shell inlaid native and my original CPM440-V Native.. But like any other dedicated Spydernut, the Natives do have a deserving place in my 16-pocket Spyderpac..

As I said in another topic I started, I really like this knife alot! The handle really fits my hand and the wire clip works for me. VG-10 is as good a steel as there is and the knife feels light and very well balanced. The best thing about the new Native III is the blade geometry! Pictures just don't do this knife justice. The Native III is my new favorite EDC!

Looks like a fine knife. At least the handles are so cool. And I like the blade with the less pronounced swedge. I'd go for the PE though, seems more handy to me at this kind of blade.

To me compared to the original, the Native III is a different knife. The handle fills the hand much better but at the same time gives a lot more bulk to the knife. I like that when using the knife. In the waistband though, bulk is less comfortable. It shows to be a very small trade off though. Both knives, original and this new 3D model are excellent performers and will do good in any collection and will be hard to beat as EDC knives.

Clipits work!
