sticky delica
sticky delica
I bought a new Delica PE about 2 months back. Everything was fine till about a week ago. The blade has become very hard to open. I have tried cleaning out the pivot area to no success. I also tried different kinds of lubrication. Anybody out there have any suggestions?
First Welcome to the Forum and you might want to try a really hot soapy water wash. Then use compressed air if you have it and blow out the pivot area if not dry the knife off really good. Add some lubricant, I use White Lightning but only a small amount. If you put too much and it is a Teflon based lubricant it will gum up the action, I have found anyways. See if that works for ya. Take Care!

The pivot on my Delica seems to have been gummed up. I soaked the knife in soapy hot water. Problem solved.
Alan2112, I have been using Militec on all of my knives for about three years now. Good stuff. To answer your question, I am a Stooges fan, but the name came from movie director Sam Raimi. It's a term he uses to describe actors that are stand-ins for other actors. If you watch the old Stooges films with Shemp you will see that in about three films they had another guy stand in for him a bunch after he had a heart attack.
Workshed!

Yup, the old soap and hot water trick usually works, then a drop or two of Militec works wonders.

Welcome aboard. The Delica is my very favorite knife. Used to take good care of my EDC (which is a Delica, of course), but lately all I do is some rinse in warm / cold water and seldom a drop of oil. These knives are fantastic, they virtually need no maintenance, you'll see.
