I love the blade steel, but i'm kind of with Tkok83Spy. For a first exclusive i figured they would have gone for a different handle material. A marbled carbon fiber with CPM-20CV and i would have been sold.

*edit* I'm still probably sold...
:spyder: I used to collect a lot of knives... I still do, but i used to too. :spyder:

Encouraging to see the Smock coming out of S30V.

If I did not already own this model I would be happy to buy this.

Hopefully in the future we can get a redesign on the choil as part of CQI.

Hmmm now I am thinking need to take the Dremel to my S30V model with this in the wings if I screw it up a replacement in a bit better steel is coming.

Right?? I almost cried when I saw those black scales. ;) But seriously, I see this as an upgraded version of the base model, which will probably sell well. Just probably not to me.

I hear ya there! No interest in the 10V PM2's, Para 3 and Native 5 Rex45's, or this. 2 years ago I would have wanted them all! Nice to realize I really don't need the same knife in 7 different steels...I will chase different scale materials though!

I feel like we took one step forward and two steps back. The steel is fantastic, but doesn’t belong with G10, let alone black. Solid CF or Micarta would have been perfect. I also would love to see a proper choil. It’s hard buying a knife when you just aren’t happy with it right out of the box.

Haha, I hope I can say the same in the near future. I have a car payment now so I won't be buying like I was. That's a good thing though because it'll force me to use the pile-o-knives I already have. Still need use my Rex Manix...

I was all excited about the Smock when it was first introduced. Now that it's out (and now also an exclusive) I'm not really interested in it anymore.

Micarta scales and I would have been all over this. :(

As it stands though... G10 is not a favorite of mine by any means and I'd be looking at a total cost of $250 for the knife after swapping out the scales. Don't know that I can justify that.

Same. I've got micarta scales on my smock now, and part of me thinks I could put those, or the original cf scales, onto this one. 20cv isn't my favorite steel, but I would definitely choose it over s30v. We'll see where the finances are at when this comes out. As much as I've begged for a Smock exclusive, it feels wrong to pass on it. But it isn't what I'd hoped for.

I'm definitely into this one. I'm not underwhelmed at all. :)

Anyone know the pre-order and drop dates?

For me, and those owning and enjoying the base model, this seems like this is the perfect candidate for a scale swap, yielding a 20cv w/CF, then off the s30v / G10 on the secondary market... possibly - maybe? :D

You know it's funny, most of us knife AFI's gripe about black G10 because it's so overdone. I've kept a few black base models around and I actually kind of like them now. I just recently put s set of TeroTuf scales on my Native 5 G10 but I had carried it quite a lot with the black G10 scales

I think this Smock exclusive will be a really good candidate for some after market scales

Black is boring, yes, but if it only comes in that color
brown is sexier than black
orange rex 45 burnt orange is nice
cutlery shoppe orange is bright blaze orange, but nice on its own
Caribbean color is great, dont dye it!
