Yikes! What were you cutting, or cutting on when you think that may have happened?

The only thing I have cut with it is fruits and a beef roast. It must have came out of the box like this. I never noticed the chip until a patina started forming and the chip showed up as a black spot on the edge. Its very small so it was hard to see before.

Hopefully it was just an issue with the factory edge - maybe got banged up before packaging. Fingers crossed it'll sharpen out and never happen again.

Missed the first drop but pumped I grabbed a satin on this one... Love the grind lines on these & the rex45 models.
They do both have very distinct grinds- and the 10v PM2 is also the sharpest knife I've received to date with the Rex45 Manix a close second.

My Manix2 Rex45 was sharp, but not exceeding sharp, not enough to keep me from sharpening it immediately... but this new PM2 is the sharpest knife, from any factory, from any country, from any company for that matter that I have ever received. I did not sharpen mine, I did strop it, and afterwards was able to get it to snag on a hair, but not quite whittle it... fan-freakin-tastic! ;) :D
You are correct. This is the sharpest knife I have ever received from the factory.

I said in the hardness thread how much I liked the grind lines. When the light hits it just right it is the best looking satin finish I have seen.
I can also second how scary sharp it is. Already cut my thumb wiping the blade clean.

Sharpened up nicely with 240 and 400 grit Venev bonded diamond stones, finishing with 14 and 3 micron basswood strops.

Hair popping sharp now.

Can't wait for these test results! As usual, looks great Connor! You always do a great job on those edges.

Thanks! The edge came up pretty nicely. I almost don't want to use it now. :)

I contacted REC about my chipped scale and they responded politely and promptly offering to replace it with another they hold back for just such occaisions. I thought about it and came to the conclusion I'd just keep the one I have. It has good grind lines, and bushing tolerances and will be a user anyway. I figured I would leave the perfect cosmetic samples to those for whom that matters ;)
Will post further once I sharpen mine and do some cutting with it.

I like how you get your edge angle to be so consistent, without concavity. Do you use a jig system of some kind?

Yes I use the Hapstone V7 sharpener. It's like a premium Edge Pro.
