Endura In flat dark earth.
I like the FDE idea a lot.
Past due in my opinion.

If Spyderco made the Manix 2 backlock in fde every soldier and every soldier wannabe would buy one. 😄

Yea basically. I'd prefer a Para of course though. :-)
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Well, this was a long time coming, before we got the Vtoku-2 Sprint there was building excitement for this steel when Sal asked on Bladeforums about what Japanese Steels folks wanted to see for the next Sprint back in August 2016.

https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/jap ... t-17664933

Well folks were geeking on the cool steels on zknives someone brought up SRS 15. The chemistry looked very exciting.

I had no first had experience at the time with that steel but a company called Akifusa makes a laser thin gyuto San mai in with SRS 15 as the core and advertised at 64rc which is harder than the 62-63 most japanese knives run the SG2/R2.

I got chance to see one damaged at the store, I was very impressed that it took a roll not a chip being so thin and hard when it was dropped.

I was very impressed and bought a Akifusa back in December 2016

Felt like Cruwear but stainless. I didn't feel at the time I could get super excited about the steel since it is basically a japanese exclusive steel but at the time I was really gettin' excited to see if it would be announced for the next Sprint run with all the excitement.

Well, Vtoku 2 was announced thenstead but looks like Sal is making good on a promise here.

SRS 13 could perhaps have finer carbides than SRS 15 thanks to the lower carbon. Perhaps a silver lining. Either way, nice to see we are getting that steel we wanted.

But for a fixed blade... the Bill Moran models are begging for a different steel, or a street beat/bowie.
These would get my attention. The Moran Bowie especially.

sal, I know that you probably hate this kind of question, but we are talking more like end of 2020, early 2021 with this sprint run, right?

Hi ChrisinHove,

Does BBB (Shawn) have a chemistry?

Hi Pancke,

Would probably start out one at a time in late 2020.

Yes yes yes! I've been enjoying my straight spine stretch a lot lately, and was thinking how much I'd like to get another in an upgraded steel.

The regular blade shape would be fine. The straight spine got me to take the leap, and I think the stretch 2 has the most comfortable user handle I've ever used.

I'd probably buy any knife from the Endura family in it.

This is very exciting!

Also, I'd love to see this steel in a bright scale color. Japanese steel, japanese anime, colorful game shows and whatnot... Something neon...

That steel looks amazing! I am interested in seeing it used.

A while back, there were requests for us to use a Japanese steel called SRS-15. We investigated the material and found that we cannot get SRS-15, but we can get SRS-13. I would guess that SRS-15 is proprietary.

So my questions would be: Are you interested in this steel? What models(s)? Mule team?

SRS-13 would be San Mai ( cladded )

I got really excited, then you lost me at cladded. I'd buy every model in the series if it was unclad SRS-15, but cladded SRS-13 equals a hard pass for me. I'd much rather see a full run in Cruwear (Cru-carta Seki Sprint Series anyone???) or 4V. St Nick's is talking about doing some FRN Seki models in their red TiCN 4V combo, so I have that to look forward to at least!! :D
