I guess this is an authorized accessory. My apologies.

Now that I've heard it from you Mr. Glesser I'll be getting one. I don't touch anything that isn't from the official Spyderco product line.

Your company must really be expanding if even you were un-aware that it was actually in the product pipeline :) >> but that's probably a good problem when you think about it.

Got mine today. Smaller than I expected. Shown with a Military for reference. But does appear to be very high quality. Thick, dense, and design is done very nicely. Def nicer than my BHQ pm2 one. Pic doesn’t do the color justice. Is a very bright “Spyderbug-Red”.

Also got mine today, a day before estimated too!

It’s a dense rubber and about .1875” (3/16) inch thick. It feels great for a simple rubber mat! Even as a maintenance mat, it will work very well! :D

I'm pleased with mine and I don't think Spyderco has anything to worry about as it is a quality item, IMO. The price will be higher than the thinner silk screened "mouse pad" style mats as this required molds to be made for production. Those molds are not inexpensive. Shipping was fast to me, no complaints.

I would be interested in an official Spyderco maintenance kit with torx driver set and a proper mat like this with container slots. Seems unlikely with the whole disassembly debate but I'd buy one.
maybe it could ship with a manix 2 lw conversion kit to remove the pins and use torx screws. i’d buy that without hesitation. :)

these mats do look cool though. i don’t get all the hate in this thread. what exactly do we need to organize? a knife only has so many parts. all my screws go into a magnetic tray and everything else is pretty easy to keep track of. it’s not rocket surgery.
keep your knife sharp and your focus sharper.

I actually think it's nicer than I thought it would be. I'm still not sure how much I'll actually use it but it might come in handy if I decide to take something apart at my kitchen table.
