Chaparral and Police4.

My native 5 in LC200N reground by deadboxhero (aka BBB, aka Big Brown Bear). 0.005" behind the edge, 12dps (original geometry was 0.025" bte, 15dps).

Police 4. Super Blue Delica, Chaparral, K390 Urban.

Super Blue Delica if I had to pick just one. Like the K390 Urban it seems to be ground thinner than other versions of the same model.

Edit: I wasn’t really thinking of the kitchen knives, but the SE and PE roundnose Z-Cuts I recently picked up are excellent slicers. I thinned out the PE Z-Cut and gave it a more acute edge and I’m very impressed with it, especially considering the price.

The Masahiro made MBS-26 utility slicer I was lucky enough to receive from one of ‘Sal’s office box’ raffles is an outstanding thin slicer as well.

The Schempp Bowie is no slouch in that department.

Wow, those look great! Is this something you did by hand on a stone?

Thanks, these were freehand using DMT stones. I finished with an Edge Pro 120 coarse stone. It closely matches the factory finish. There must be better options but that’s what I had.

Chaparral FRN for me.

I don't know if fixed blades count, but I recently got a Gayle Bradley Junction. Being thin & slicey is a big part of why I love it.

Many I could mention, especially ones that have been reground or reprofiled, but lately my #1 stock blade in this dept is the Baby Horn sprint. Such an underrated blade from a true legend.

I have a reground South Fork that's a wicked slicer, and the Sprig gets a nod, too

But for EDC, I'm still going with the Chaparral.

Hap40 stretch has a nice grind. Thinner than normal.

Chaparral appears to be the winner based on the number of mentions, but I've never handled one.

Out of my collection the first to jump to mind is the Caly 3.5 ZDP-189 Sprint.

I was surprised by the sliceiness(sliceyness?) of the Ulize. It's got a pretty thin blade, with a high hollow grind and that adds up to a nasty slicer. Especially in the recurve.

All my Spydies are pretty slicey in general compared to other brands I have. In thin & slicey department, excluding kitchen knives, the Chaparrals are definitely my favorite followed by the UKPK S110V LW & Baby Horn. The Delicas aren't quite as thin but certainly deserve a mention

Sage 2 (left) is probably the one I carry and enjoy the most.





I like the convexed Militaries too (M4, 204P and 52100)! :)

I’m right there with you on convexed FFG blades for separating cardboard. Even on saber ground blades, rounding the shoulders makes a marked difference in slicing ability.
