BladeShow 2020!

#1

Post by Sumdumguy »

It is still a ways off, but I went ahead and purchased my ticket! This might be the year I bring my kid, I don't know yet.

I'm so excited to fondle the proto case and pester Sal(if he's there this year).

So, who's going to make it this year? I'll be there Friday @10am!

I just bought my ticket this morning. I will be there all three days. Meeting fellow forumites is always my favorite part of the show so any of you who are there, please don’t hesitate to introduce yourself if you see me walking around. I try to make myself walk around and see everything but I always end up getting sucked back to the Spyderco booth as if by magnetic force.

It's tough to resist the allure of all the shiny Spyders! I turn into one of those Suckerfish when I get to the the prototypes.

It's becoming a problem, haha.

This will be my third year and my first with early bird tix (though I could only get second tier, whatever that means.)
I usually walk the whole place at least once, but visit the Spyderco booth multiple (re: half a dozen or more) times every day I’m there. Last year I couldn’t resist holding the Smock over and over...can’t wait to see this year’s protos!

I´d certainly like to be there... but there is a lot of ocean between Austria and bladeshow... ;)
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

I'm just hoping they still have it... After the news about The Arnold Sports & Fitness Festival being canceled, it makes me nervous. Especially since we have such a large amount of international attendees, particularly from China.

Ah crap! What a buzz kill. Hopefully it’s far enough out that we’ve got a better understanding of how to deal with it by then.

In lite of the conditions in the world today I think it poor form to have large public gatherings and honestly you could not get me on a plane to go to a place packed with people right now.

It’s just knives, not worth anyone’s health or life, anyway that’s my perspective and it appears to be Spyderco’s as well.

Unless you can get a refund on travel and accommodations I would not start swimming yet.

Perhaps now would be a good time for Sal to let us know their plans for these events so people don’t waste their money only to miss the most important booth?

Meh, swine flu killed 12,000 Americans in 2010 and sent a quarter million more to the hospital. The world didn’t stop then and it won’t now. See you guys at the show.

p.s. I contracted h1n1 in 2015. It was brutal.

Plus, if you lock yourself away, you retard your immune system. Thus, making you more susceptible to the illnesses you are so afraid of.

Me? I'll keep living my life. If it's my time to go, so be it!

We have a friend who's an infectious disease specialist. He basically said it's certainly something to be aware of but it's being blown way out of proportion considering how many deaths there are from Influenza. Use caution, wash your hands, etc just like you normally would but no need to make any major lifestyle changes because of it.

Not sure how to take that, people will die for sure from this corona virus, maybe MORE than the swine flu. To shrug it off as if nothing to worry about, I dont think so.

Travel bans may stop dealers from attending unfortunately.

There are many dirty people in this world, Ive seen many leaving a public restroom that dont even wash after. Picking their nose and looking at it while driving. Sneezing, Coughing without covering mouth. They are the people spreading it, and theres thousands daily like that. Everything they touch first, then you touch, it could be a Spyderco knife on display?

Hope its under control soon and the death tole is minimal

I'm on the same continent and it's still hard for me. Work is pretty demanding.

I’ll be there. At this point it is difficult to discuss the Corona Virus without discussing politics so I will just say that my concerns are low.

Looking forward to it. Woo hoo!!!

Looks like I’ll be attending too. I hope I get to put a face to many of the folks here on the forum. I’m insanely excited as it will be my first real Blade Show. I went to Blade Show West last year and it was a lot of fun. I’m expecting this to blow it out of the water though.
