This one is looking like the CruCarta shaman. Surprise instant sell outs on a sprint that is coming in to a bunch of dealers at different times.

Does anyone know if this one has a much larger run than that Shaman? Or about the same size?

Honestly, I think the screaming deal MAP on this, the Manix LW and the Native LW Rex 45 sprints are going to mean that they all sell fast. Rex 45 at $3.50 more than s30v is a no brainer for almost every knife enthusiast.

I feel pretty good about finding one this past Saturday at the local knife shop. I actually went in to possibly by a Chief. Yesterday I sold it (manix) to a friend who was ready to buy a great knife for a great price. That's a good feeling as well.

I'm never gonna get one ...sells out way too fast ....infuriating
Likewise! Seems I'm always a minute too late...
I’m about ready to pull the trigger on a 2nd hand one I found for $155.
PM me. I have a lead to where you can get a new one at $126. My PM's to you just hang in the outbox.

From an email I just got from DLT. I’m new to this sprint run thing but perhaps this explains some of the quick sold outs and frustration:

Good afternoon,
We are writing this today to give you an update on the Manix 2 Rex 45. So far Spyderco has only shipped premier program knives, which is an automatic shipment of any new model to dealers and distributors. The premier program has a cap of 5 for dealers and 10 for distributors. We are opting to hold off selling any of these knives until we have any we can get from distributors and whatever quantity Spyderco has allotted to us for regular dealer orders in addition to our premier program knives.

From a recent email from Spyderco, they are expecting to send out the bulk of the knives within the next few weeks.

If you are interested in this knife, sign up for the in stock alerts on the product page so that you will be notified when they are available.

Check out the email from DLT I posted...these are trickling into dealers from the premier program, so they're getting really little shipments of 5 or maybe 10 (from distributors) each time. DLT says they haven't even gotten their regular order yet.

Day two on the job today, for my Manix 2 G10 Rex 45.

We got another shipment of sheet steel in today. 17,079 pounds worth, to be exact.
Seven skids, at about four foot by eight foot. They come in with heavy corner and edging cardboard, for protection (0.160" thick). Banded together, with some very heavy Poly-Fibered banding (0.040" thick), and it's some really tough stuff!

Of course, it all has to fit inside of some wheeled trash barrels, to be rolled over to the main dumpsters for disposal. So it's got to be cut up, right!?
:D

392 feet of Poly banding.
168 feet of cardboard edging.
224 square feet of cover cardboard.
In four trash barrels.

One Rex 45 Manix 2. :spyder:

No Problemo!

That's not steel banding?? The way it shines off the light and the very precise cuts in the banding and the way it's bent sure looks like steel. I deal with the stuff everyday, no way is a folder handling that stuff.

No, I assure you TkoK83Spy . It's was all poly banding today. Sometimes it comes in green, and sometimes it is steel.
The garbage man has not come yet. He's due Thursday. If you like? I can send you a piece as a souvenir? I do have plenty. :D

Haha, that's fine! I'll take your word for it. Just looks like that nasty stuff that requires the banding cutters, especially being around an inch wide. I've seen it too, but typically not used on things banded down that are transported uncovered.

Glad you were able to put that Rex45 to use! I've planned on doing the same this week with my Rex PM2, but it's been slow for some reason and really messing with my weekly comparison tests!

Yeah, I remember there were some comments made early on that the pics online looked like it was a little different color. Now that I have one I probably wouldn't have thought anything about it until you mentioned it again. I guess it is a tiny bit different but not by much

Thanks for the comparison photo Pat. Not too far off, but it's definitely a bit more dull isn't it? Im thinking of doing some swapping once I get mine...see how it looks with some DLC, black hardware and liners with that orange! Just worried the KW exclusive grey with satin won't look as good with the Rex45 blade. Guess you don't know if you don't try!

That pic was taken under LED light on my work bench. It's really hard to see the difference otherwise. The PM2 & P3 scales have just a touch more orange to them

Its a nice color, I prefer it to the Cutlery Shoppe "blaze orange". I like both dont get me wrong.

Its like the Fall season, Pumpkin, Sweet potato, clay tile, mix..

In the sun light it looks more orange
