Mine arrived at home yesterday, but we were at our property, so I finally got the chance to open it tonight. As expected it's excellent, except I did notice quite a bit of blade play on mine, to the point where I could hear clicking when I rocked the blade. All screws were tight, etc. So I opened up the knife and it's missing a washer on one side of the pivot. Anyone else that's received one have this happen? I'll contact spyderco tomorrow and I'm sure they'll send me a second washer, just curious if other samples had the same issue.

They will want you to send it in so they can log the lot numbers as well as replace the washer, I would think.

I’ll probably try to snag a LW. Since the XL is left out of any sprints, I might as well try to get used to having the mini-Manix LW be the go-to Manix platform for steel variety. With SPY-27, REX45, MAXAMET, BD1N, and S110V, the LW has a good steel option for any cutting task. A helluva lot cheaper than Shaman collecting, too.
BRING ON THE MANIX XL SPRINTS AND EXCLUSIVES! And 10v or K390ify the Golden lineup, please.

Top 5 folders I’ve owned: Serrated Caribbean Leaf, Shaman, Manix XL, ZDP-189/CF Caly 3.5, Native LW.
Top 5 steels I’ve owned: LC200N, K390, CPM S90V, M390, CPM REX45.
Top 3 steels I want more of: M390 class, A11 class (including K390), CPM REX45.

Yeah I was hoping they'd let me avoid sending it in, only because I don't want to wait 3 more weeks for this knife! ;)

That's a bummer Julia! You know Spyderco will right the problem though. Hopefully this isn't something that's happened with multiple knives in this drop. Interested to hear from others once their knives arrive.

Sorry to hear that JuPaul! I hope they can just send you a washer and be done with it. I would hate to be without my brand new knife for three weeks but I’m sure Spyderco will definitely take care of you.

I just checked mine and I do have both washers. Although mine has a little bit of blade play when locked up, but it’s centered and super smooth opening and closing so I’m not gonna mess with it unless it gets worse.

I really, really want some REX45. And I really like the Manix platform. I really dislike orange scales enough to avoid it. Please give us something besides orange. I wonder why Spyderco chose such a polarizing color for HAP40 to begin with.
To be fair these are a very subdued orange in person. More like a brown(still orange, just less)

I prefer these over actual orange scales. These look like Fall.
+1 here. I actually really like this shade of orange, opposed to the Cutlery Shoppe orange. It really does have a fall feeling to it. They are even more subdued after a bit of use too.
+2. Much classier earth tone than the bright safety orange. To me, it's more like an orange terra cotta. I like it!

There is a dealer on eBay that has some available. I have bought from them before, and haven’t had trouble. Not to mention, they have 100% feedback.

Hope this helps someone!

That little bit of eBay tax seems worth it for this one.

A new member to the family.
This has the smoothest action I’ve seen yet on a Manix from the factory.
I can’t say I like the color as much as I’d hoped, but that’s the bias of an Auburn Man living in Vols country. Aesthetics will be adjusted asap with new scales and matte clips to come.
Nice collection!
Thanks Julia! The Manix has become my favorite work knife platform so its nice to have a variety of steels to choose from.

No worries! I sent it in to W&R this morning - this is a knife well worth waiting for. And for what it's worth, I'm still so amazed and grateful that the owner of a world-wide company bothers to take notice of such a tiny little issue. I so appreciate it, and it makes my Spydercos that much more special.

It's a favorite knife of mine, too, especially for the horse barn/trail riding. Took a while for me to come around on the cbbl, but now that I have I can't believe I ever disliked it. A few other members and I have a little love affair with those grooved Putman scales - I've got a set on my cruwear manix, too. Such a great fit for the model.

Ha! I may have had you in mind. :D And yes, we need some new colors! As quickly as those scales sell out, you'd think they'd expand the line. There's definitely demand to support it.

Ummmmm.... It's both, without question. Ten of these went up on the bay today at $122.00 and it was like starving piranhas -- missed it by seconds... :(
