Why no sprints for the backlock Lil'Native ?

#1

Post by elena86 »

Yes, why ?! It's such an ergonomic capable lil pocket rocket and that backlock is amazing ! Two slabs of G10 and no liners are just a bonus. Just imagine a gray G10 handle with a black DLC coated CPM-Cruwear blade  The little sucker deserves a better treatement if you ask me... but nobody does and I have such good ideas :p

I would jump on a Cruwear lil native back lock. I have the SE S30v in the comp lock. I prefer the back lock on a knife this small. I have toyed with the REX45 sprint, but I’m going to pass. The lil native is a very capable knife.

Because nobody likes us members of the “back lock brigade”.

My theory on why the Lil Native Backlock is not more popular than the comp lock is the clip....

I would have to agree with this.

I really am growing to prefer the wire clip. I still like the spoon clip, but on a small knife the wire clip is especially nice.

I like the comp lock version I have a lot, but I'd also love a backlock sprint. I like to carry little knives like this loose in my comfy pants pockets in the evenings (or in running shorts in the summer), but I'm only really comfortable doing that with backlocks. The clip wouldn't matter to me in that case since I'll take it off. If a backlock salt version comes out before any sprints, then I'll likely get that one.

I'll second on that. Perhaps I would have taken it by now if had the clip from comp lock version.

I just got one of these today. I really like it so far. I would say I dont love it but I cant judge it yet. I love the native 5 and it took me quite a while to come around on that model.

I really like Goldens backlocks. I like the action on the native 5 and chief a little bit more, but maybe I will like this one as much as those once it breaks in.

I like the wide base spoon clips just fine. I have no problem with wire clips for edc, but in a work knife I prefer spoon clips.

Maybe these are not selling as well as thought. The date code on the box of mine was two years ago to the month.

I dont care about a sprint. I would much rather have sprints of the Chief and regular native 5.

What I am interested in is a lil native lightweight backlock salt. In serrated edge for me. I would pick up at least 2 of those.

I am hoping for cruwear, K390/maxamet/rex45, and S110v/lc200n. Toughness, edge retention, stainless, respectively. This would meet my needs based on the daily tasks. I like the back lock because of the reversible clip. I mostly carry back pocket next to my wallet. Tip down deploys more natural for me in this pocket

Blade HQ bundle with a free Pacific Salt:

Pretty sweet deal, but probably also means they aren't moving a lot of them.

Agreed. The spoon clip and backlock were more "Nativey", but ultimately a backlock with a wireclip would have been ideal IMO. Give it some jimping to match the Native5 and I think it would sell even more. Similarly, people have been asking for a wireclip on the Native for years.

Funny as I thought the same. But in the Lili Native wire clip I get a serious hot spot. The spoon clip on the back lock is palm friendly and welcome to stay on any back lock sprints.

I think 52100 would be great in the native 5 and lil native back lock.

I was going to ask this exact question. I was very disappointed when the new REX45 turned out to be a comp lock instead of a backlock.

I like the Compression lock Lil Native but if there was a Sprint on the BL version I would be very happy to buy one.

As others have said, it appears that the back lock version is not as popular as the comp lock version. Part of that might be due to the clip but I doubt that's the sole reason.
I had both versions and kept the back lock. I'm fine with the spoon clip.
