Your favorite handle shape
Re: Your favorite handle shape
For a small fixed-blade, I really love how the Enuff feels in hand. There's a reasonable amount of swell & contouring to the handle, but it's still neutral enough that I can comfortably use it in a wide variety of grips.
I haven't handled a lot of big Spyderco fixed blades so my favourite in this category would probably be the Schempp Rock by default, since it's the only big Spyderco fixed-blade with which I have extensive use experience.
In terms of folders, my favourite handles are the ones in
the Introvert, UKPK/Caly 3, and Q Ball tied for 1st (they're very different knives but they feel like they were custom fitted to my hand), followed by the Native 5 & Yojimbo 2 for 2nd place. I don't know what my 3rd place choice is... probably a toss-up between the Li'l Temperance 3 & the Polestar.

Gotta agree on the Stretch (the 2 for me), it's extremely egomaniac. Millie and PM2 come in right behind.
My collection so far: 52100 Military (2); 52100 PM2 (2); 52100 Para3; Stretch2 V-Toku; KnifeWorks M4 PM2; BentoBox M390 PM2; BentoBox S90V Military; Police4 K390; S110V PM2; SS Delica AUS-6; Wayne Goddard Sprint VG-10

I love the how the dodo feels in hand. It seems to fit my hand almost perfectly and is such a joy to use.
For an even smaller knife, the handles on the meerkat and navigator are quite stellar. They are very well designed and are surprisingly capable.
Honorable mentions to the d'allara 2, caly 3, and delica.

I always forget how much I love this handle. It has a neutral grip, that is secure and comfortable. I couldn't ask for more in a handle.

Re: Your favorite handle shape
Hard to choose a favorite as there are so many good ones. I'd have to go for the Stretch in a folder and probably the Aqua Salt in a fixed blade. For hard/extended use the Shaman is excellent.
Re: Your favorite handle shape
The only Spydie handle that has felt wrong in my hand is the Southard Flipper, but grabbing a G10 Manix2 is, for me, like putting on a pair of well-worn jeans that still fit.

Urban, I don’t know why it feels better than the UKPK, but it does.
Gayle Bradley 1, how to get the cutting edge right up to the fore finger.
And the big surprise for me has been the Pacific Salt, it even balances on the front finger.

The D'Allara 3. I wish there would've been more interest in an FRN version or that I would've been able to get an earlier version with FRN. But it still fits just about perfect in my hand even with the flat slabs of G10.

I saw this post, and came to preach the Brouwer gospel, but I see I'd be preaching to the choir!gull wing wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2020 3:34 pmSome handles are just ok, some are darn right terrible, then a few just seem to melt in your hand. What is your best handle?
My number one is Para 3 Lightweight - I know, FRN is not my favorite handle material, but in this knife, it's "a package".
The knife is light, and balanced. :)
Number two Brouwer It's the size on this one that does it for me. I have a small hand and this one fills it.
The Brouwer is the only knife where I got that "this was made for MY hand" feeling. Stock pocket clip is a must if you're looking to optimize ergonomics. If you want to sacrifice ergos for carryability, that's a personal choice.
Other than that, all the rest of the models with a finger choil, followed by a finger groove are pretty darn good. Native, Sage, Shaman, Manix, etc.
I prefer no thumb ramp, and a straighter back of the handle.
Brouwer is the best.

Re: Your favorite handle shape
Military and Shaman for me. The Millie because of the great curve to the handle that blends into the negative blade angle. The Shaman for the hand-filling 3D machined G10 scales

For a folder, the Military is my pick. I love my para3s, but I find I often hold the knife by the scales as opposed to wrapping my hand around the handle. Maybe it’s time to give a PM2 some pocket time.
