Seems like I've seen this blade somewhere before, but does anybody know if it's genuine or what the model name / number is?

Hi Stevie Ray, welcome to the forum.

This is a Spyderco Q. Nowadays it is discontinued (sadly), but there are many different designs of it. The other forumites will know a lot more...

stevie ray.
Just additional info. it's model number is C35SBK. There are many variations. This one is not the most common. It's from blade magazine. I know they were numbered and probably had at least 1000. There is also a grey handled 25th blade anniversary knife. that one seems to be rarer. If you need more info I might be able to answer questions on some.
Regards,
Chris

Ahhhhhh.

The devilishy sultry and desirable Blade Magazine "Q". Boxer 93 can set us all straight but I believe these were for Blade Magazine in 1997 and 1998. It should have a serial number on it as well.

Qs came in a variety of flavors beyond the standard Spyder cut-out and the solid blade. Some 50 odd blade variations are known to have been made and there were about 5 handle colors (green, red, blue, grey, and black). There were also 20 sets of the PE Spydie cut-out in each color handle sold about a year ago and each set came with a personal letter from Sal's son, Eric.

Chris is working on compiling pictures of all the "Q"s he can find and hopefully will make his work available whenever he finishes this daunting task.

Meanwhile, here's an NYC Blade Show Q and another rare mini.........

Howdy Chris,

Guess I'm getting slow on the keyboard. You must have posted while I was lookin' for pics. Thanks for the hint on the Blade 25th Anniversary Q.

Yeah, it's real. All told, it's good for around $60 resale, or an interesting piece in a collection.

By the time you read this, you'll have already read it.

Yep,it's real. I snagged it for $64,which amazed me cause I think it's the first Q I've seen on eBay that didn't go over $100. They pay silly prices for them there.
