My grandfather taught me at a young age to always carry a pocket knife. I thought the world of him (still do), and he carried Case knives. I never researched other brands. I just assumed that was the best knife for me to carry.

A few months ago, I decided to buy a new edc knife. I had in mind a budget, but decided to do some research prior to my purchase. A google search of “best pocket knives” failed to bring up any results for my usual Case knives. Instead, I kept consistently seeing Spyderco, and a few other rotating brands depending on the website I was viewing.

The further down the wormhole I traveled, the more Spyderco I saw. More and more it showed up in the random terms I researched trying to find the best knife for my budget. Eventually, my search led to knife steels. It was at this point that Spyderco separated itself from other companies. Spyderco had the best selection of steels, at better prices, than any other brand. I was sold, and this past December I ordered a zdp manbug. This was quickly followed by a few more Spyderco purchases, but this isn’t the space to discuss my ocd money decisions.

To make a long story short, Spyderco has the best steel. Imo this is what really separates it from others, and was the primary factor in me finding this brand. After everything is stripped down, isn’t the steel what a knife is all about?

Also, how many companies can you interact with the owner, like you can here? It’s truly a unique brand, and I’m very happy to have found my way here. Thanks

I agree.

I been carrying a Spyderco Delica on duty & off duty since 2007. Amazing how the knife has held up.

In 17 years one clip screw fell out. I called customer service and they sent me out 3 screws and told me to use a little blue loctite. No issues since.

I have many different Spyderco ‘s but for some reason the Delica is always in my pocket & the others find there way into my go bag.

Great product. Great Family owned company.

...collaborations. I think I’m right in saying Spyderco has done more collabs with custom knife makers than any other company, which has given us collectors a wealth of nifty and truly usable designs.

Flexibility and responsiveness. The members of this board have an impressive amount of knowledge and I remain impressed by the willingness of this forum community share that knowledge. Maybe even more impressive is Sal and Spyderco's ability to take some of this input and constructive criticism and act on it. Thank you Mr. Glesser and crew.
Do right always. It will give you satisfaction in life.
