Collectors club knife sold as new

#1

Post by noeps »

I recently purchased a PITS which I really like from knivesplus.com. I did notice however that it has a number on the blade, which I believe indicates it was originally shipped to a collector. Knivesplus was selling it as a new item, so I am wondering if it is possible that it was actually new. Perhaps knivesplus is the collector?

Anyway, here's the knife:

Oftentimes dealers are in the collector's club as well (usually the owner of the store)

I believe the owner or founder of KnivesPlus is liquidating his personal collector's club knives, so they really are "new" unless he used them, which is quite unlikely.

This. He has been getting premium prices but he also has some very nice knives. Country Knives also regularly sells knives with their CC # as well. The CC #s kind of bother me too.

I've received one or two CC knives from dealers before. At first I wasn't too happy it about it. Now I doesn't bother me. They're users and I don't even really notice the CC number on the blade

Thanks for the replies everyone. It seems like new condition and I couldn't care less about the number on the blade. I did notice that the micarta/g10 backspacer drill holes had just a couple shavings still hanging off, but they were easy to remove.

I've also received a few cc numbered blades from dealers over the years. It never bothered me.

The important thing is that you scored a PITS. Congrats and enjoy, it's a great design!

I wouldn't be happy if I bought a knife and wasn't told ahead of time that it was a collector's club knife. I'd return it.

Collector knives are shipped to a dealer then shipped to the collector member. They're not shipped direct. I believe they can decline the knife and then the dealer can sell it.
