Forum knife 2020 - final model poll

#1

Post by Ric »

In the steel poll SPY27 was the clear winner.
35% CPM SPY27 (=handle color Cobalt Blue)
19% LC200N

SPY27 means Cobalt Blue handle.

The shortlist of the models are:
23% UK Pen
22% Shaman
19% Lil Native
Because requested often I also want to throw in the Native Chief.

UKPK, with burgundy linen micarta. Still would prefer a tool steel like K390, but SPY27 is great too.

The UK Pen is my choice for a 2020 purchase. So traditional.

I vote for a UKPK with a drop point. I have a feeling that we will be overrun with Shaman varieties over the next year or so.

Personally / "selfishly": The Chief. That´s the one I´d carry the most out of the four (and UKPK / Lil Native not at all tbh)

If the goal is that most forum members can carry the forum knife legally: Obviously UKPK.

But still, since I have no restricting knife laws where I live, I don´t know what people who HAVE such laws really want:
- A knife they can carry legally whenever they want
- Or still the model they personally like the most, even if they CAN`T carry it legally outside their homes.

I honestly don´t know for sure what I would do. But probably still choose the model I like the most, despite not being able to carry it legally...
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

None of the models listed get me overly excited to be honest. I’ve been going through a dry spell for knife enthusiasm lately though.

Anyway, I voted Chief because that’s the only one I’d really carry.

I would have chosen lc200n too but I must have missed that poll.

This is a sad list. I picked the Chief, but I don't care much for any of these. I'll be passing on the Forum knife again, if this list is any indication.

I voted Chief as it would get the most carry time of those listed.

Of those four options, the Chief. I would definitely carry that and we don't have an exclusive or sprint of that model yet.

I would be very happy for any of those 4!

What would best suit SPY27, I wonder?

Voted UKPK but a coin toss between that and the Li'l Native.
SPY27 would be cool, but i hope Ric is wrong stating "it means cobalt blue"
I wouldn't hate a cobalt blue handle, but micarta in just about any color would top it.

Going with the chief. Was admiring mine last knife. Its a really good knife and I dont think enough people have experienced one yet.

I also like the shaman but 3 different versions have already been announced this year and its not even February.

This would've been my vote.

Ultimately, I think the best choice would be to let Spyderco choose the forum knife like they always have.

These polls are always divided and, in my opinion, are difficult to gauge accurate interest anyway. :spyder:
