Large slipjoint Spydie, anyone?

The biggest currently available non-locking Spydie folder is the UKPK. Was there ever a Spydie with slip-joint and a pointy blade that was a good part longer than 3"? Say around 3,5", like the PM2?

Who besides me would want one?

Any type of slip joint coming from Spyderco is a good slip joint, big or small :) My only preference is that it comes from Golden. After the wonderful Red G10 UKPK, I feel like I have been spoiled when it comes to quality compared to the stuff that comes from Maniago.

At this point, I would be happy if the missing Lil' Native slip joint decided to finally make an appearance...

I enjoy some of my older, smaller slip joints occasionally and I enjoy my UKPK but I really don't have a need for a slip joint folder any larger than the UKPK. What would be the purpose?

Hi Archangel,

We have a prototype for a 3.5" blade UKPK that we call the CPK (Canadian Pen Knife - in house name).

Hi Sal,
With all due respect sir, I really am curious. What's the purpose of a slip joint folder that large?

This.

I got a Golden Native in LC200N, after a number of Seki models, and was pleasently surprised by tolerances and finish.

Yesterday I got an Urban, and was completely underwhelmed, comparing it to Golden Native.

My vote would be to bring all production, exept chinese, to Golden :D

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the PITS folder yet. It only has a 3" blade, but its still a good size and fills the hand well.

Oh make no mistake, I am well aware of the PITS, but unfortunately, the only way to get one now is to pay very silly prices. Would love if they came up with a PITS 2, but I'm not keeping my hopes up.

If I may ask: Leaf shape or Drop Point? ;)

Bigger is better. Didn't you know?

Obviously I'm not Sal, but I think people with silly legal restrictions deserve larger blades too.

Have you seen the PM2 slip joint mod? There's a thread on this forum about it.

Yeah I know about it.

I'd love a regular production PM2 slippie. That would be perfect! A 3,5" CPK DP seems to be the next best thing.

I was wondering the same thing, and this makes perfect, though pathetically absurd, sense.

Whoa! Sal you just made my day. If you need someone to test it north of the border I’d be happy to help. Canada thanks you. 👍🏻

Hasn't there been some talk about a Kapara slippie? I'd be on that.

The same as any other blade that size. Some places have laws against carrying locking folders but no limit on blade length. Some of us old geezers maintain that if you really need a lock on your folder, you shouldn't be using a folder at all. I routinely carry and use slip joints that large and larger even though there are no laws forcing me to.
