Forum knife 2020 - model poll
Re: Forum knife 2020 - model poll
I have the forum PM2 and a forum Native. Nothing here is getting me too excited so i may be over forum knives.
Was thinking the Native Chief, then started thinking the Para 3, and now I'm thinking maybe the Lil Native in 4V. So I voted Lil Native, but still would not likely be interested.
Forum names on blades might be fun but would really stink for the secondary market if you should ever change your mind.

We discussed this last time and it got ignored. A Wharncliffe Delica and a UKPK were the favorites then. I imagine they would both still go over well.
Same here, the Shaman. :)

G10 K390 Native 5. No forum name. FRN would be OK as well.
Of the list, I picked Shaman.

I think the chief would be a good choice too.

I voted UKPK. Same reasons. Would prefer the drop point. The Deacon wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 2:04 pmUKPK, because it's both affordable and legal for Spyderco to ship anywhere.

Shaman is my first choice, a wharncliffe on any locking knife would be second.

Why no Fixed blade in the vote. It’s about time the forum knife was a fixed blade.
My suggestion yesterday was a fixed blade Mule, G10 one black one red scale.

Shaman is the only one I might be interested in (depending in steel and handle material). I have no interest in the others.
I also like the idea of a fixed blade forum knife.

Re: Forum knife 2020 - model poll
I’m as big of fan of comp locks as anyone, but I think we are going to see a lot of great flavors of the Shaman and Para 3 LW in 2020 anyway. Everyone has an opinion on what lock is best, why not just throw all locks out the window and do an incredible slip joint. If you don’t already have a UKPK you need one, and if we are lucky with the generosity of the Spyderco team they may give us the best UKPK yet. The Lil Native would be awesome as well, but I’m sure some sprints and exclusives are also on the horizon. If they could only do a Lil Native in 3 flavors for the Forum Knife all at once to please everyone (comp lock/back lock/slip joint).
Also, we were clearly told that we don’t agree on anything and Spyderco was going to watch this thread and see if it was worth pursuing another Forum Knife. We HAVE to come together on this one knife. So, without being 100% selfish, what knife would answer these questions:
- Can all my forum mates afford the knife?
- Can all my forum mate legally buy the knife?
- What knife would you choose from Golden that hasn’t been a Forum Knife in the past?

I don’t see wharnie Delica there, so...

As much as I love my Shamans, let's face it... there have been a lot of people that jumped on the hype train of the recently released sprints/exclusives the past few months, then realized it was too big or too heavy, not as fidgety as a PM2/Para 3. Also, it's not legal in many places and will certainly cost a premium price. I'd be cool with it, but as a forum as a whole...I don't think it would be a good choice.

We also know there are several nice Shaman models coming soon. And while I really like the two I have, they're expensive, and have a limited place in my personal needs so I'm not likely to buy any more.TkoK83Spy wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 7:42 pmAs much as I love my Shamans, let's face it... there have been a lot of people that jumped on the hype train of the recently released sprints/exclusives the past few months, then realized it was too big or too heavy, not as fidgety as a PM2/Para 3. Voted lil native only because native chief wasn't an option. I'd go for fixed blade as well.
Re: Forum knife 2020 - model poll
Can we get clarification/consensus of which Lil'Native we should all expect if it's chosen?
I'd be okay with a slip joint Lil'Native.
I'd absolutely be interested in a compression lock Lil'Native.
I'd be absolutely against a back lock Lil'Native. They're good locking mechanisms; I'm just tired of back locks.
If the forum knife is a Lil'Native, I expect to get one regardless of lock type.

That is an important consideration. The UKPK base price is about 1/3 the price of the Shaman. Such a low base price means a lot of possibility for upgraded steel and handle materials without making the knife inordinately expensive.
Personally I'd love to see a Damasteel, drop point UKPK. Handle material could be Micarta if that is possible, or even a nice G-10. No FRN, please.

Re: Forum knife 2020 - model poll
the only ones i would buy lil native, para 3, or manix 2.
the shaman is to big, the manix lw is pinned, the para 3 LW is blade heavy, i would rather have a golden made urban that a ukpk, for pocket carry.

Thank you for your consideration
