New PM2 Owner & New to Forums

#1

Post by 90grains »

Living overseas comes with a lot of small challenges that one learns to live with. One of them is not being able to make an in person inspection and purchase of a new knife.

Regardless, after looking at the PM2 from afar I finally purchased the DLC coated blade with DigiCam scales from a local online retailer. I calculated the sales tax, shipping through a airfreight forwarder and VAT and the local price was competitive with the States and delivery is three weeks faster!

I have been using a Sharpmaker for the past year and it is an excellent product. I bought it locally as well.

I think this is just the beginning of my relationship with Spyderco knives.

Hi. Welcome to the Spyderco Forums. In witch country do you stay ? I Own a couple of Spyderco's and the PM2 is my favorite by far. So much that I own three variants of it (S30V, S110V and Cru-Wear).

Log off now and leave if you want money in your wallet. Spyderco’s are like potato chips, you can’t just have one or two.

And

Definitely don’t look at this thread

... Well, that sounds familiar  (I am from Austria)

Welcome to the forum! PM 2 is a very solid choice for a first Spydie! :)

If you like its overall size and shape, but want to try a backlock, FRN and a thinner blade: The Straight Spine Ivory Stretch sprint run is hitting European stores, resp. is already available for as "low" as 120 Euro (around 130 USD). Not pricey for Europe and a great design...
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Buying overseas is a headache in both directions. I bought some boots from England and they turned out to be the wrong size (not their fault) and shipping them back and paying for shipping back to me was so much money I just ordered a second pair outright and gave the other pair away.

What I really don't understand is why people blame the company for these kinds of issues. This is just the price you pay (literally) for buying internationally.

Thank you Sir! I live in the Philippines and purchased from Tactical Asia here. Their Customer Service is hands down the best I have found in the PH. A great Representative for Spyderco.

Sir, the Sharpmaker I purchased to help me touch up a recurve blade. The design is user friendly and excels at what it was designed for.

Thank you and congratulations for building a World Class business that focuses on quality and functionality! Spyderco has garnered a loyal following for all the right reasons.
