Perhaps the GLOBAL PANDEMIC has something to do with the delays? ;) :D

Perhaps for some but the first three are made in the USA with US materials.

I'm assuming many of the parts are sourced from a wide variety of manufacturers. Something as simple as the ball bearing of the Manix LW may be backordered due to short staffing during the pandemic. Or the spring or the pins or the FRN or the steel or the...etc, etc. I'm surprised we are seeing the number of new releases that we are to be honest.

I’m assuming the Reveal is announced when Spyderco has all the parts in-house or in the logistics pipeline specially for US-made and sourced knives. Pandemic excluded specially for knives coming from outside the US, the whole idea of the Reveals was to have them in dealers’ hands within 90-120 days from the Reveal Date. That means some thought was put in the logistics.

These are long overdue from the 2020 Spyderco Reveal Volume 4 (January 15, 2020) and it’s now 200 days since that announcement:

  1. Manix2 Lightweight CPM-SPY27 Cobalt Blue FRCP C101PCBL2 (USA)
  2. Manix2 Lightweight CPM-REX45 Burnt Orange FRCP C101PBORE2 Sprint Run (USA)
  3. Native Chief CPM-REX45 Burnt Orange G-10 C244GPBORE Sprint Run (USA)
  4. Chaparral Sun & Moon CTS-XHP White G-10 (Red G-10 Inlay) & Black G-10 (Mother-of-Pearl Inlay) C152GSMP (Taiwan)
  5. Nightstick CPM-S30V Black G-10 Boltaron Sheath FB47GP (Taiwan)
  6. Astute 8Cr13MoV Black G-10 C252GP (China)

Thank you, RamZar.

I have had some concern about the Rex 45 Manix 2 LW, since February. When my Manix 2 Rex 45 G10 model showed up. The paperwork inside the box. The same printing that comes with all of these Rex 45 Sprint Run Knives. Mentions in it, all of the upcoming Rex 45 Sprint Run Knives, except for the Manix 2 LW. 7 out of 8, that we see in Reveal Volume 4.

Image

So on March 5th, 2020. I sent Michael Janich a quick note, asking about this. I never did hear back from him. Adding to my concern. So now here we are. All of these months later, and as you point out. We are "long overdue".
Hey, SteveMidwest:

The letter for the REX45 Sprints was written based on the original list I received. I'm sure of that, because I wrote it. The decision to add the Manix 2 Lightweight to the list was made later and Reveal 4 was updated right before it was released to add it. The letter was also updated, but not before a large quantity of the original letter had already been printed. We chose not to be wasteful or kill trees for no reason, so we continued to use the original letter.

I checked my PMs and, as far as I can tell, I never received any message from you inquiring about this or any other topic. If, in the future, you or anyone else sends me a PM and doesn't receive a timely response, please ping me with a reminder. Like most folks at Spyderco, I've got a fairly full plate.

Bottom line: The Manix 2 Lightweight in REX45 will be released as planned.

Stay safe,

Mike

Thank you very much, for this reply and clarification Mike. I sure do look forward to this knife, and I'm happy to have you clear that up for me/us. I knew you had written it, so that's why I came to you first, and early (Thu Mar 05, 2020 9:08 am).

I had also gotten a Rex 45 Shaman, a few months (June 12th-ish) after seeing that initial paperwork in the G10 Manix 2 Rex 45 box. So once I saw it again, so long after the first time. It only added to my concern. I can sure understand though, how advanced printings can go. It happens around here from time to time as well.

Just in case you have time to double check. Attached below, is a copy of that original message. Sent to you here in the Forums messaging system. Which of course includes a timestamp.

Thanks again Mike, and have a wonderful Summer! :spyder:

G10 Manix 2 Rex 45 Paperwork Text Omission
Sent: Thu Mar 05, 2020 9:08 am
From: SteveMidwest
Recipient: Michael Janich

Good morning Michael.

I saw you were online this morning, which reminded me to send you a quick note. While I was thinking of it again.

On the paperwork, that came with the G10 Rex 45 Manix 2. There was no mention of the Manix 2 LW. Which I found odd. Just mentioning 7 of the 8, new Rex models. So I just chalked it up to a simple omission.

Thank you, and have a wonderful week!

I’m seeing both the K390 Manbug and Dragonfly on eBay, and my dealer told me the SpyOpera is shipping this week (or at least the CC ones). :)

Dear Steve:

Thank you for your response. I believe you sent the PM, but I honestly never received it. It seems to be an issue on my end, as my Private Message queue always shows that I have one new message, whether I actually have any or not...

Stay safe,

Mike

From what I've seen recently, once a new model starts shipping to dealers the SFO changes the status from coming soon to out of stock. Once the SFO gets their pieces for direct sales you'll see them change it to in stock. On low volume sprints you may not have a large window to buy. Thankfully the SpyOpera is listed as a regular production model.

I went to the SFO today and the spyopera is there and available. I'm kicking myself for not grabbing it and may have to go back tomorrow. That handle is so nice

According to River's Edge Cutlery (REC) their Exclusive and long-delayed ParaMilitary2 CTS-204P Flat Dark Earth (FDE) PVD Blade Olive Drab (OD) Green G-10 C81GPODFDE2 (USA) will be “dropping soon” for $169.97 (one per household). Additionally, REC will be releasing more batches in the future to meet demand.

I wonder: is this a change of strategy? Are the times of once and for all sold out in minutes exclusives over?
