The Smock really wasn't for me and I sold it, but it felt like the definition of what I assume people want in a fidget knife.

I COMPLETELY misread the title of this thread!

I'm thinking, "A Ladybug?". Haha!

Crass humor aside, my Mantra is the definition of fidgety.

To answer the OP:

For me --in the spydie realm-- it would have to be the two Shaman variants that I own. Heavy blade and comp lock are a good combo for both flick and drop-ability.

I'm as guilty as the rest of us at fondling my knives and enjoying the sensory experience of them as objects, outside of cutting tasks.

That said, I find "fidget friendly" at the bottom of my list for knife purchases. "Handles well for me" is more like it. I enjoy my traditionals as much as an easily flickable Spydie. Context is critical.

Do any "fidget" people have their detent ball flaten off and get a weak detent from it? That's the concern I have and it's why I never do it. It's also why I haven't bought a used folder. These days, I assume the seller is a chronic fidgeter.

a flattened detent ball is a straightforward fix (I've changed some over to ceramic, and some I've replaced with steel) but if the ball properly seats into the detent hole, even flattened it won't have a large impact on action. There are some manufacturers who purposely flatten their detent balls to provide a "sliding sandwich" that holds lubricant better.

Heh, perhaps!

It's fun to watch the reactions. I'm an incredibly kind person, but I have absolutely no filter. Stuff just falls out, feelings be damned!

It has served me surprisingly well. If I get a chance I'll PM you a story or two(thousand) of how my unintentional political incorrectness has gained me friends, money and the ability to spread laughter in an increasingly hostile world.

Also, I'm MUCH younger than what my personality would indicate. I think it's from a lack of age appropriate friends growing up. Most of the people my age annoyed me to no end. The only people that I could carry on an intelligent conversation with, were atleast 20 years older than me. All of my peers were reading Freckle Juice, whiIe I was reading Gulliver's Travels. I was(am) strange.

ANYWAYS, back on the topic of fidgety!

The Yojimbo's blade weight made it amazingly flicky. I can't wait until I finally get to see the Yojumbo! The only reason I sold my last one was that it didn't fit my hand. The next one will hopefully be perfect!

My Yojimbo and my Manix 154CM are the two that middle finger flick open like a rocket!! And it's because of the blade weight.

I can't get any fingers, besides pinkies, through most Spydieholes, so for smaller knives, I gently pinch the Spydiehole with index and thumb and spin the closed knife completely around between those two fingers.

That's my most common fidgeting method with the Native and smaller Spydies and a Mini-Grip.
