My First Blade Show

#1

Post by Alan2112 »

I would have posted last night, but on my first night back to work I had my standing eval., the USAF calls it a QC(rough night, but I passed). I take my hat off to Sal & Co for having one of the finest booths at the Blade Show. I got to meet Sal, Eric, Joyce & Julie, and yes they are some of the nicest folks you'll ever meet! I had my picture made with my two favorite guys Sal, and Les De Asis while having lunch with him and some others! I got to admire several new cos, and prototypes, my favorites being the new ATR(very smooth), the Native 3(got to have one), and a CF Military(wonder who that belonged to)! Here's a list of folks I got to meet in addition to those above: Neal Blackwood(he gave me a new knife), Lynn Thompson, Jeff Randall, Allen Elishewitz, Ryan Wilson... Sorry for any misspelled names, no disrespect intended! As for my first Blade Show, as a famous radio personallity likes to say, it was more fun then a human being should be allowed to have! Next time I'll go for the whole weekend. RKBA!

Alan,
Any possibility that you can post some of those pic's? Just wondering. Even though I work for , I haven't had the wonderful experience to go to the Blade Show. I think I'll have to play some low down trick to get Sal to send me to the next one! Either way, I'm a glad to hear you had a good time, even with my extreme jealousy!

The Blade Show was in Kennesaw, Georgia USA, which is just outside Atlanta, at the Cobb Galleria Convention Center. It is an annual event. For the cutlery industry, it is probably the largest event in the world.

Travis, I'll post them when I get them developed, if it's alright with Sal? I still got a little of the roll to burn up.

Alan, Could you possibly tell a little more about the ATR?
Did you see any (bronze) washers like you can see on a Sebenza or a Benchmade Griptilian?
They say it's made of 5 parts, except the screws. I count two handle slabs, a blade, a clip and ?? (bushing? washers? stop-pin? cobra-hood?)

Thanks,
Ted

I didn't notice if it had bronze washers, but I just got a new BM 735BT, and the ATR is at least as smooth! It felt wonderful in the hand, and the size is perfect! The frame compression lock is user friendly too!

Alan,
I am sure Sal would not mind. After all, J Smith posted some pics of the show too. They were cool. Thought yours would be just as cool.

Yep, was a great show. Great to see Alan and everyone else. I also enjoyed chatting with the folks at the Spyderco booth, always a nice bunch of people and they have cool toys to play with I'm looking forward to the new stuff that's on it's way, looks like a few more Spydies will be added to the collection this year.

Jeff, I got the peper jack CB to, it was the best burger I have tried! I liked the music they played in there to, at one point they were playing vintage Black Sababth!

There was a Delica that looked like a anniv.model but had SS bolsters and blue bone scales.Still no clip.I would love to see these produced with a clip and some sort of natural scales or even linen micarta.
