Wharncliffe Delica interest

#1

Post by Haunted House »

I’m a huge fan of the Wharncliffe Delica (and straight edge blades in general). Since getting the hap40 Wharncliffe version, it’s become my favorite knife.

I noticed there’s not many blade steel options in Wharncliffe configuration, just wondering if it’s due to people not liking them (and not buying them).

What’s everyone’s thoughts on the Wharncliffe Delicas?

Its just the fact that its a specialized blade shape and that usually means higher end or exotic steels wont get used too much. Same with the sheepsfoot.

I like them just fine.

I love the blade shape, but it's small for my hands.

I, personally, really like the Wharncliffe Delica a lot. It's a great size for me and I just like wharncliffe blades in general. I'd argue that the Wharncliffe Delica has been a big hit and very popular, at least it seems that way. It has both plain and serrated versions in VG10 and H1 and of course, there was the HAP40 sprint run and an S30V Exclusive from Cutlery Shoppe.

For it to already have a sprint run and an exclusive variant, it seems like it sold well from the start. Not to mention it has birthed a number of other wharncliffe models like the Endura and Dragonfly.

You could say I’m a fan. ;) It’s the best work knife I’ve ever used - still. I love it. HAP 40 is in my pocket now. VG 10 as soon as I get to work. I don’t think it’s too specialized, either.

I’m really hoping for a K390 one. Hopefully not a hard to get exclusive.

I EDC'd my S30V Wharnie for a while, but it had nothing to offer me over a leaf blade (which i much prefer aesthetics-wise), so it's now a shelf elf :)

I'm a fan of the Wharncliffe. But without modification, the handle doesn't fit my hand. I'm looking forward to trying an Endela, it looks like it will hit the sweet spot.

A Hap40 Endela Wharnie would make me jump.

I like Sheepsfoot and Wharncliffe blades very much. The Delica doesn’t move the needle much for me. I think the Wharncliffe Endura looks like a great knife for working with rope.

Never had one, but it is on my list. A Cruwear Wharnie in any of the Delica, Endura, Endela, or Dfly would all be must buys for me. I'll probably buy a VG-10 here soon though while I wait!

Agreed. I'd love to see a wharnie blade in the Native 5 LW, or Sage 5 LW.

It’s an excellent working knife for me, and one of my most used knives. I use the HAP40 version.

I’d like to see it included in every Seki Endura series sprintrun.

I’d get another one in K390.

Love my serrated one and my hap40 one. Would I prefer a Native 5 wharncliffe? Yes. Would I really prefer a hollow ground Native 5 wharncliffe in s90v. Yes yes yes.
