thanks!

It's been a lot of fun carrying a C95 again. I'm going to switch to the XL when I go back to work to compare them better after the honeymoon phase.

I like the lock back Manix 2. I imagine it wouldn't be too difficult to translate that into an XL version.

*edit* I can get you a comparison of the C95 versus the lock back Manix 2.

They look awfully close. Thanks for the photos. Does the M2 lockback feel too fat to you, or do you enjoy the width?

I’d love a c95...

You need to try a chinook 4 if you haven’t held one yet.

They've been on my list since they came out. I see myself getting one in 2020.

Is the gripping area longer on th c95 than the XL?

They look identical to me. The biggest difference I can see in their shapes are the thumb ramp differences I outlined.

I’d really like to see a return of the regular-sized Manix 2 backlock. I was never into the Manix 2 until I recently got my DLC Manix 2. Now it’s the Spyderco that’s in my pocket most days.

Hey Vivi, thanks.

To me, plus or minus a little bit doesn't matter too much.

I do love the Manix 2, it is one of my favorite models (probably due to the fact that I'm not a heavy user). I almost don't carry the C95, but I had to get it when I was able to trade for one. They sure aren't that common or easy to get ahold of. I do like the idea of taking the older models that are crazy priced and releasing a limited sprint to save the fans a lot of money to try one of the older models.

As far as your question goes. The Manix 2 handle is a little thin, the open construction and the jimping of the liners can leave some significant hot spots. The Lock back Manix 2 has almost no jimping to irritate your hands and the scales are almost smooth, so zero irritation there. The spine has full spacers down the entire back of the knife. The edges on the outside are slightly radiused. It is super comfortable. I would say it's the difference between night and day.

Good comparison!

I am curios to see a comparison between the C95 and the new linerless G10 backlock Manix.
I know a lot of people didn't like how thick the M2 backlock was. Makes me curious just how thick it was compared to a C95.
I'll try to remember taking some
comparison pics!

Maybe time to bring this back to the top?
I Love my FG C95!!! So much, that I had ended up with 2 back ups.
Now down to 1.
A fellow friend fell in love with mine, so I shared.

Now a few of us are hoping for a sprint or exclusive!

Having just gone down the C95 rabbit hole after some Chuck Norris related silliness on another thread, I came across this on Google whilst searching for any original C95’s for sale. I would LOVE a C95 sprint!

I hope you find one! I have one in mint condition and 1 green sprint run as a user. (And am always looking for more to save)
And i have said it maybe a thousand times on this forum already but i will say it again.
Its the pinnacle of Golden’s manufacturing! I love the Manix XL and the Manix 2 aswel as the Shaman but none of them come close to the original c95 and the original Mini Manix.

And i hope one day to see it return and if possible with the powerlock. A lock so epic that is now laying as a dusty piece of paper in one of spyderco’s office’s. It would be a match made in heaven the combination of the old original Manix design with that lock. Ok it would be expensive but even if needed i would sell my Nirvana to own one that is how strongly i desire that dream off a Real Manix a heavyweight champion!

It sings to me as a perfect balance of durability, finesse and small folding size. I normally carry both fixed blades and folders at work, but this looks robust enough for all but the worst cutting tasks.

Funny seeing this bumped now of all times.

Got back from vacation and the Military went straight into my pocket.

Noticed the pivot had worked loose so loc-tited it over night.

Guess I used too much and it worked its way down into all the other pivot parts. Even after taking the pivot screws male end out it had rough opening that was smooth in some spots and sticky in others.

So I've got it 100% stripped down for a full cleaning, and in the mean time I've been putting my 4V Manix XL to work.

I wonder how a sprint C95 would be received these days? If the goddard, dodo, phoenix and ayoob can be brought back as sprints, I'd imagine the C95 could.

I'd definitely go for a DLC sprint in a tough steel. Imagine a st. nicks 4V or BHQ M4 DLC?

If Spyderco did do a rebirth of this classic a tool steel in DLC would be ideal . Evertime I get out the St. Nicks I think what it would be like in original format . We can always dream ! Dan
