Spyderco LC200N/H1 Kitchen Shears

#1

Post by Dazen »

All this talk about food prep knives has got me thinking. What I really need in the kitchen is an awesome set of shears that don’t rust. Has Spyderco ever thought about making shears now that they have these great steels to work with? I do so much prep with shears and have tried them all, and they all eventually end up in the dishwasher via the kids and wife. I haven’t pull the trigger on Cutco’s yet because I don’t want to spend the money if they rust too.

What do y’all think?

GREAT idea. Ones that split into two parts for easy cleaning. Dishwasher safe. I would buy a few for sure!

I want a full kitchen set in LC200N w/ a Spydie block! Never thought about shears. But, if possible, why not?

Nothing fancy, they just needs to be indestructible. :D

Would any end line users ever, and I mean ever, actually sharpen their shears. Because I can already hear people talking about how the expensive shears arent any better than the cheap ones form the store, and they are just as dull, and to them all stainless is the same, and so forth.

What's the difference between shears and scissors?

Shears have a small thumb hole, scissors don't.

I encourage anyone to do some research on kitchen shears, you will find there is nothing like the set suggested. They would be great out of kitchen too.

Of course. Every pair of scissors in the house and shop have edges that exceed that of when they left the factory. Sharpening scissors is almost as much fun as sharpening knives, but it requires considerably more attention to detail.

If you have a Sharpmaker, you shouldn't have any dull shears or scissors.

I dunno, man. I’ve gotten scissors sharpER, but not truly sharp, with the Sharpmaker.

Maybe they could be a hybrid of Kitchen, Game and Rescue Shears.

I have these and they work pretty well on small game. I wonder how a serrated pair in H1 would fair with the high hardness.
