Small Mod on the Brouwer

#1

Post by gull wing »

I must say I like this knife much more than I thought I would. It handles so well, it looks so good.
After swapping clips (MXG) there was little else to do for it.
There is too little jimping on the spine for me. When I choke up on the choil my thumb rests on bear steel.

Here is what I did.

Factory jimping is great if you don't choke up.

Here is my thumb when I choke up to the choil. My thumb is covered. :)

Thanks.
I have a Micro Mill and fitted a very small chuck too it, holding double Dremel disks.
I would not attempt doing this free hand. :) Not with my hands anyway.

Same here. Since it was released I didn't even consider it but one day : BANG ! I realized what a nice little gem it is. I only wish it had a slightly longer cutting edge and a slightly smaller finger choil.

P.S Tight job you did with that jimping right there ...

Looks very clean! I wouldn't want mine that way but it looks like a very clean job, good man!

I've always thought that the Brouwer fit my hand so well that I don't need the extra jimping.. I definitely appreciate seeing people put effort into doing quality work though.. well done! :)

..well, that escalated quickly..

That’s really great milling work. So easy for it to look sloppy, just with one grind line barely off. Nice job!

I noticed the detent ball is black on the Brouwer, others seem to be shiny as in stainless steel. I know the CRK knives are ceramic.
Could this detent be ceramic? Has anyone covered this?
