Has anyone else gotten a K390 Para 2 that has no corner chamfering on the scales?

Post by AwayFromMySpydieHole »

Just got a couple k390 para 2’s in from BBS. One seems like all the other 30+ para 2’s I own (or have owned).

But one is different. When i gripped it I could immediately tell someone was different. It felt...harsh.

Upon further inspection the scales are not rounded off at all on the edges. It is a complete 90 degree edge all the way around the scales.

Very uncomfortable to hold. Wondering if I’m the only one that has seen this?

ETA: to be clear, I’m not complaining, I’m more just curious if this was a rolling change or not. My first thought was yes, but the other one I got seems to be chamfered like normal. Thanks y’all!

Will try to get a pic. It’s very hard to get a comparison shot that doesn’t throw the parallax off on one of them.

My BBS m390 has this issue. I’m trying to find some aftermarket scales I like due to this. It’s not worth the effort to round them for me, as I’m not a huge fan of the stock scales as it is.

The chamfering on the PM2 is quite subtle, it isn't rounding a là Para3, nor is it by design anywhere near as pronounced as the rounding of the Military scales. Are we sure that there isn't just a perception that the scales on the (or any examples of the) K390 PM2 aren't rounded?

I'm comparing the knife in question directly to my other Paramilitary 2's that range from 2010 all the way till now.

It definitely has zero corner rounding, and the others have slight corner rounding.

No big deal to me either way. I was mainly curious.

Ok, I was merely raising the possibility. If they are uncomfortable for you at all, maybe you could take some fine sandpaper to the corners and very gently round them a bit more? I believe people have done this with G-10 before, and seems like a quick job, although one should be careful not to go overboard.

If you ease the edges I'd strongly suggest wet sanding.

I picked up both the PM2 and the Para 3, no complaints whatsoever.

Could you post a comparison pic?
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.
