No patina. Used a chemical stripper and scraped the coating off, then buffed it with 1,000 grit a bit.

Gotcha. It looked like it had a slightly darker finish. Looks good either way.
Did you make that sheath? I'm considering an Armatus sheath for my ESEE 3HM.

Thinned down BTE very nicely, nice small edge, proper low grit, the stripped coating, ...
I bet that thing is an absolute dream in hand, and in use.
... And that sheath is freakin' sweet too!

Heck, even the photo is pretty cool, The moss on the painted or stained wood, leaves, ...

I've said on two previous occasions that I would love to see a STREET BEAT model in full SE. As good of a user as the STREETBEAT is for EDC uses I can only imagine how good it would be with TEETH.

The handle and overall grip factor of the original Micarta version was/is awesome. Fred Perrin is a top notch designer for sure.

My late best friend EDCed his for the last 3 years of his life and he swore by it and very much wanted an SE version as well. And he was one picky dude I might add. He had an Ankle Sheath that was really sweet>> and the STREETBEAT is about perfect for that scenario IMO.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Street Beat in SE, JD. However, I'd much rather seen one in plain edge K390 (I'd take serrated too, though.).

What chemical stripper did you use? I really might have to try this. Been on the fence about a street beat LW for backpacking. The only thing holding me back is the black coating.

What chemical stripper did you use? I really might have to try this. Been on the fence about a street beat LW for backpacking. The only thing holding me back is the black coating.

Citristrip from home depot. Same can has stripped 10 blades, including some choppers, and still plenty left.

I'm going to have to buy some Citristrip from Home Depot and a new Street Beat to try it on. Yours looks too good to not try to mimic it.

Looks really good, I agree. How did you deal with potential contact of the chemical stripper against the plastic handle? Did you mask the handle?

I've considered getting a street beat off and on for years. I love the design; it looks great for utilitarian purposes. However, in CA, any fixed blade that is legal to carry (and I believe the Street Beat falls into that category) must be carried openly. Which I take to mean fully visible, with no part of it covered. Because of that, I've never pulled the trigger and bought one.

I know of at least one guy on BF from my area who open carries FB knives, reportedly with no problems, but that's him, and I'm not willing to chance it.

I'm lucky in that where I live, fixed blades are not only legal to carry concealed or openly, but seeing others carrying them is pretty common. Generally see a few every time I go to a bar, walmart, etc.

I have the OG Street Beat in micarta. Love it. I'd be up for a sprint but you've got me honestly thinking about the lw and retire the og.
I'm glad I got it when I did seeing this thread.

We already have one of the Seki makers that is producing a K390 fixed blade (the Enuff 2, and it’s awesome!!). I think a Street Beat LW in K390 is the logical choice for the next enhancement of the model. It’s also probably the only one that has any chance of being produced.

I recently picked up a couple of Fred Perrin’s customs to tide me over until my dream Street Beat LW in K390 comes to fruition.
