I've asked a couple times in other threads now, if anybody be willing to grab me any sort of millie or manix, or anything really, shoot me a PM, I wouldn't be able to get my passport in time to make it.

They usually have multiple variations of both at the second sale.

Which would be great if he could make it to the sale. I've got him covered.

Just wanted to publicly thank you yablanowitz, really awesome of you. Thank you.

On topic - are there seconds from other factories (I e taichung or Seki) ? Or just from golden?

Taichung seconds are pretty rare, but there are some. Seki seconds are more common, and I've seen some from almost all the others. Had one of the SpyderCrew from the factory tell me the QC standards for Golden were ( and I quote) insane, so you see a lot of them.

Dang, the line started Monday night! My first sale I arrived on a Thursday afternoon and was fifth or so in line. A couple years later I went early Wednesday, either late morning or early afternoon and was second in line. But it's getting crazier!

One of these years I'll get to Golden for the sale. It's not like I need anymore knives but, as a Spydiehead, I'd sure like to experience it once.

Do they just hang out in the lobby during business hours?

I'll let you know. In the past when I went up Thursday night and visited the store before it was completely rearranged for the sale, I didn't see any of the twenty or so people ahead of me hanging out there.

In the past we've always sat around outside in front of the building. Then again, I don't think anybody has ever arrived anywhere near this early before, so they might have changed things up because of that.

If I hadn't cancelled my trip out there due to a change in work, I'd probably be arriving to Spyderco right about now.

Last year I dropped in at the SFO mid-dayish on the Friday before the seconds sale. About a dozen to two dozen people were lined up on the walk in front of the store off to one side so SFO daily activity could still happen thru the entry unobstructed. There isn't much of a lobby and they weren't allowed into the lobby to wait it out. November in Colorado is usually cold, so some tough hardcore souls braving it out thru the day and thru that night, but looked like they were having a good/social time (drug and alcohol free of course). Some got a little restless when I went in and came back out with a package in my hand (picked up a mule and yes had to pay regular price as it was a regular business day and was business as usual, just a crowd starting to amass outside). The regulars had to explain to the newbs that SFO was open for business as usual and they quickly settled back down. If I recall correctly, a bunch of porta potties were on hand in the parking lot for the event/crowd.

I got here a little before noon today and I’m fifth in line!
Earlier in the day we were just hanging in the showroom talking about knives for an hour or so, then outside for about an hour. It’s currently raining, so we’re all just sitting in our cars for now.

Are the knives in the sale marked as seconds? Just wondering if people need to be cautious about unknowingly buying a second at places like eBay, etc.

Yep, they’re marked with a really small notch cut into the spine above the spydiehole.
