The things I think about while I'm rolling paint :rolleyes: .

The Vesuvius was a Frank Centofante collaboration and the first compression lock folder. Did Frank have a hand in designing the lock, or did Sal just field test his lock design in Frank's knife design?

YAB I had one of the GOLDEN, CO made Vesuvius models way back around 2004 or thereabout. I do remember it had ATS-34 blade steel and at that time it was considered one of the premium models and ATS-34 blade steel was far more respected then than it is now obviously. However I still like ATS-34 in serrated blades. I did a thread about 3 years ago on the ATS-34 era and I believe I remember that there was a couple of nice pics of this Vesuvius model posted on that thread.

I remember how well detailed it was and the fit and finish was great for that time. I also remember it struck me as being a high quality unit as many of the GOLDEN made units were at that time ( Still are too). However that particular design didn't catch my eye for daily usage like the 2 EDCs I was using at that time which were a CE RENEGADE model and an original C-44 Dyad model with ATS-55 blade steel. I still have the Dyad it will be a permanent keeper in my rotation of EDC users.

I haven't even seen one of those on the secondary market in a long time now. I would think that one now a days brand new in the factory box would probably fetch a pretty nickel.

P.S It's time to get me a Cento 3 ASAP

Don't know the answer, but given Sal's penchant for giving credit where credit is due, I'd be very surprised if Frank Centofante helped design the compression lock.

I think I'm going to pick up another Centofante 3 myself. I had a krein regrind one at some point and I can't remember why I got rid of mine. After carrying an Opinel lately I've wanted some thinner Spydercos, and I remember the Centofante cut very nicely.

White. In fact, I think the bucket actually says "Extra Boring White".

In this case I don't want to know your thoughts when painting black ... :D
