Sage Backlock Micarta
Sage Backlock Micarta
Sage Backlock Micarta ... something you would be interested in?
You complete the rest: color, steel, or ???
I would love to see this knife done in something other than wood, in something other than a metal handle, and something other than a metal bolster... So pretty wide open! Micarta, g10, frn, carbon fiber, most stainless and most carbon would work for me ... so really not that particular.
Since micarta is all the buzz here, I'll vote black linen micarta w/ matt finish and most any blade steel.

Re: Sage Backlock Micarta
Micarta sounds like an awesome idea. Though unlikely, it would be an instabuy for me.
I'll be buying the 5 LW, but with the recently discontinued 1 and 2, I really hope 6 is just around the corner. I've had my fingers crossed for a Button Lock, but with the Sage5 and Smock Lock now a thing, it would be seemingly easy for them to make the 6 a Smock Lock. And... If the Smock "tang flipper" were possible it would make a big splash for sure.

Yes please. The wood with bolster model is so hard to find and expensive when you do. A second chance at these would be great. Love the sage model and micarta would do this one justice. Good suggestion.
Re: Sage Backlock Micarta
Not sure it's likely to happen but I'd be in if it did.

I had a black micarta Calypso Jr that I never should have sold. I'd love to have a liner-less Sage 4 in any flavor of micarta.

Re: Sage Backlock Micarta
Of course I'd be interested in a Cru-carta Sage Backlock! :D
CRU-CARTA THE SEKI MODELS! AND BRING US THE DODO-FLY!
Re: Sage Backlock Micarta
Been there twice. Once one of my brothers in law admired it during a trip home to NY. I just handed it to him and told him to enjoy.
Bought a replacement and sold it to someone on the forums that really wanted it.
So, now I only have the ZDP version in FRN. Great knife but doesn't have the style of the old micarta Calypso Jr.

Re: Sage Backlock Micarta
Given that the Sage 4 used the same blade tang mounted stop pin as the Chaparral, I suspect it would need liners. Still, I definitely would be interested in a Micarta Sage 4, with or without liners. Butterscotch/natural linen Micarta would be my first choice.

Re: Sage Backlock Micarta
Sage 4 needs to be brought back. Didn't get to own one but I've handled it and stuff. IMO it outclasses the delica, chaparral, and narive 5. It was superb.

Re: Sage Backlock Micarta
I'd love a chance to have a Sage backlock.
Re: Sage Backlock Micarta
I don't think it needs to have any particular steel. The appeal would be the Micarta.
When do we get a Micarta Chap? That's the platform that's really intended to showcase different materials.

Re: Sage Backlock Micarta
Not a bad price at all. Original MSPR for the Sage 4 was $300, couple other Sage variants have gone up between 10% and 20% over the years, so I'd say somewhere in the $330 to $360 MSRP range. I suspect a Micarta version with no bolsters would be a bit more reasonable.

Of course, I would love another Sage 4! Micarta or some other material.

Re: Sage Backlock Micarta
Big YES to a Micarta Sage 4 but big no thanks to a bolsterless one..
To this day I haven't seen a bolstered Spyderco gone bolsterless for the rerun appeal to me.. (Think Persian and Kopa SS..)

Re: Sage Backlock Micarta
Would be great in Cruwear or XHP or even BD1N with blue jean or burlap micarta. Any of these choices would be outstanding. Oh and please lose the lanyard hole and give a deep pocket clip

Re: Sage Backlock Micarta
Missed this thread:
Yes, I´d be somewhat interested.
If the Sage came with a backlock, in this size range I´d clearly prefer it over the Native (mostly for the 10 % more cutting edge the Sage offers, plus the a bit thinner blade) and anyway over the Para 3 (even if the Para 3 came with a backlock)
Micarta would be great anyway and probably the final reason for me to get one.
Still, I´d probably prefer a Micarta Delica or Micarta Chap over a Micarta Sage in this size range (both have thinner blades and the Delica a roomier handle)

Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Re: Sage Backlock Micarta
Yes, sage backlock micarta with cts-xhp. Would not mind a lw backlock sage, either.
Re: Sage Backlock Micarta
CTS XHP... Would be much like a "Chaparral XL" then... Not a bad thing, and even better if they´d give it the thin Chaparral blade stock.
